Stop using 9 to 12 year old grape victims as your go to abortion argument if you’re going to stay silent about child marriage defended in the name of religion. Are you against little girls being sexually abused, or only when it fits your political argument?
History has a disturbing habit of repeating itself, and every generation is convinced they’d be the good guys. Everyone likes to believe they would’ve stood against slavery or the Holocaust. Everyone thinks they would’ve recognized the dehumanization, questioned the propaganda, and refused to participate.
Yet here we are, watching people convince themselves that another human life is disposable the moment acknowledging its humanity becomes inconvenient.
The same society that lectures everyone about compassion, human rights, and protecting the vulnerable suddenly has a thousand excuses for why those principles shouldn’t apply to the unborn.
And God forbid we mention personal responsibility or accountability. Apparently, those are hate crimes now. We’ve somehow created a culture where avoiding consequences is celebrated as empowerment, and questioning it makes YOU the monster.
Here are the states and jurisdictions with NO fixed gestational cutoff on abortion:
Alaska
Colorado
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
New Jersey
New Mexico
Oregon
Vermont
Washington, D.C.
And Virginia JUST approved an amendment protecting abortion rights, including certain third trimester abortions.
But sure. Keep insisting abortions that late in pregnancy never happen. Keep pretending that repeating something loudly enough makes it a fact.
The most disturbing part of history isn’t that people committed atrocities. It’s how many ordinary people convinced themselves they were morally justified while it was happening.
Everyone thinks they’d have been on the right side of history. That’s exactly what people on the wrong side thought, too.
Happy birthday to one of the most beautiful souls I know. 29 years of friendship. 29 years of memories, laughter, tears, secrets and trouble. I honestly can’t remember a time in my life when you weren’t a part of it, and I can’t imagine my life without you in it.
We’ve been through so many different chapters of life together, but never in a million years did I imagine cancer would be one of yours. If I could take away even an ounce of what you’ve had to go through, I would in a heartbeat. It’s so unfair that someone with such a beautiful heart has had to face something so incredibly hard.
I wish you could see yourself through my eyes and know just how much you mean to me and how deeply loved you are. I miss the days when our biggest worries were getting caught sneaking out. I would give anything for life to be that simple again. You deserve so much more than the cards you’ve been dealt, and more than anything, I want to see you happy, healthy, laughing, and making a million more memories.
Here’s to 29 years of being my best friend and praying we get 29 more. I love you more than words could ever explain. Happy birthday, Melina.
