⛔️ Stop posting scenes from The Odyssey filmed on your phone. You’re ruining the experience and spoiling the movie...🖕🖕🖕
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is almost here.
Before Matt Damon faces gods, monsters and the longest trip home in history, here is Homer’s nearly 3,000-year-old epic in plain English.
Yes, there are spoilers.
Homer has had plenty of time to warn you.
~~~
1. THE WAR IS FINALLY OVER ⚔️
Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, is the king of Ithaca and one of the smartest Greek commanders in the Trojan War.
After ten years of fighting, he creates the plan that finally defeats Troy:
The Trojan Horse.
The Greeks hide soldiers inside it, enter the city and destroy Troy from within.
The war is over.
Odysseus just needs to sail home to his wife Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway, and their son Telemachus, played by Tom Holland.
It should be a short journey.
It takes another ten years.
~~~
2. HE ANNOYS THE WRONG GOD 👁️
Odysseus and his men become trapped inside a cave belonging to Polyphemus, a giant Cyclops who begins eating them.
Odysseus gets him drunk, tells him his name is “Nobody” and blinds him while he sleeps.
When Polyphemus screams that Nobody is attacking him, no one comes to help.
A perfect escape.
Until Odysseus proudly reveals his real name.
Polyphemus happens to be the son of Poseidon.
The god of the sea now knows exactly who ruined his son’s eye, and he makes sure Odysseus does not reach home easily.
~~~
3. EVERY STOP MAKES THINGS WORSE ⛵️
From there, the journey becomes a collection of increasingly terrible travel decisions.
The Lotus-Eaters make his men forget about returning home.
Aeolus gives Odysseus a bag containing every dangerous wind, but his curious crew opens it just before reaching Ithaca.
The Laestrygonians, a race of giant cannibals, destroy almost his entire fleet.
Odysseus left Troy with twelve ships.
Soon, only one remains.
~~~
4. CIRCE TURNS HIS MEN INTO PIGS 🐷
Odysseus reaches the island of Circe, a powerful sorceress who transforms part of his crew into pigs.
With help from the god Hermes, Odysseus resists her magic and forces her to restore them.
But Circe eventually becomes his ally.
She tells him that getting home requires one more completely reasonable step:
Traveling to the Underworld and speaking with the dead.
There, Odysseus learns what still awaits him and receives a warning about the choices ahead.
~~~
5. THE SEA GETS EVEN WORSE 🌊
First come the Sirens, whose voices lure sailors to their deaths.
Odysseus orders his crew to block their ears with wax and tie him to the mast so he can hear their song without jumping into the sea.
Then he must sail between two monsters.
Scylla, a six-headed creature that eats sailors from the deck.
And Charybdis, a giant whirlpool capable of swallowing the entire ship.
He survives both.
His crew does not survive what comes next.
Despite being warned, they kill and eat the sacred cattle of the sun god Helios.
Zeus responds by destroying their ship.
Every member of the crew dies.
Odysseus is now completely alone.
~~~
6. SEVEN YEARS WITH CALYPSO 🧜♀️
Odysseus washes ashore on the island of Calypso, played by Charlize Theron.
She falls in love with him and keeps him there for seven years.
She offers him comfort, love and even immortality.
But Odysseus refuses to abandon the idea of returning home.
Athena, played by Zendaya, finally convinces the gods to intervene.
Calypso is ordered to release him, and Odysseus sails once again toward Ithaca.
~~~
7. HOME HAS BEEN TAKEN OVER 🏹
While Odysseus has been missing, more than a hundred men have occupied his palace.
They consume his food, waste his fortune and pressure Penelope to choose one of them as her new husband.
Penelope delays them with a trick.
She promises to choose a husband after finishing a funeral shroud, but every night she secretly undoes the work she completed during the day.
Telemachus, meanwhile, has grown up without his father and is searching for answers about what happened to him.
When Odysseus finally reaches Ithaca, Athena disguises him as an old beggar.
Nobody recognizes the king inside his own home.
Penelope then announces a final test.
She will marry the man capable of stringing Odysseus’ bow and firing an arrow through twelve axe heads.
Every suitor fails.
The beggar takes the bow.
He completes the challenge, reveals his identity and, with Telemachus beside him, kills the men who invaded his home.
But Penelope still needs proof that he is really her husband.
She tests him with a secret only the two of them know about their marriage bed.
Odysseus gives the correct answer.
After twenty years of war, monsters, gods, shipwrecks, temptation and loss, he is finally home.
That is The Odyssey.
A story about intelligence, pride, survival and a man refusing to give up on the family waiting for him.
And it became so legendary that, nearly 3,000 years later, we still call any long and difficult journey an odyssey.
Which part are you most excited to see Nolan bring to the screen? 🤔
Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40,000 still has no trailer, no release date and no confirmed cast beyond Cavill himself.
But the most important battle may already be won.
Amazon and Games Workshop have finally agreed on the creative rules.
That means the grimdark lore has survived its first battle.
Here is the current state of Amazon’s Warhammer 40K project:
~~~
1. THE DEAL IS OFFICIAL
For months, the biggest threat to this project was not Chaos.
It was paperwork.
Amazon and Games Workshop had a 12-month window to agree on the creative guidelines for the Warhammer 40,000 films and TV projects.
Those guidelines matter because this is where tone, story direction and the limits of adaptation are defined.
In December 2024, Games Workshop confirmed that the creative guidelines were agreed and the final deal with Amazon was signed.
That does not guarantee a masterpiece.
But it does mean the project cleared its first major test.
Warhammer is not generic sci-fi.
It is religious fanaticism, endless war, body horror, cosmic evil, satire, decay, corruption and impossible scale.
If you start changing things and drifting away from the lore, it stops being Warhammer.
~~~
2. HENRY CAVILL IS NOT JUST THE FACE
This is the part that gives fans hope.
Cavill is not just attached as an actor.
He is an executive producer, and he has been publicly positioned as one of the key people helping shape this universe from the beginning.
That matters.
Because Cavill is not pretending to be a fan for marketing.
He has talked about Warhammer for years. He paints miniatures. He knows the lore. He understands why the Imperium is not supposed to be presented as a clean heroic empire.
This is not a case of Hollywood discovering another IP and handing it to people who secretly hate the source material.
At least on paper, the guy leading the charge actually cares.
~~~
3. THE STARTING POINT IS STILL SECRET
Games Workshop has confirmed that they already have a starting point for the screen universe.
But they have not revealed what it is.
No confirmed faction.
No confirmed character.
No confirmed era.
No confirmed first storyline.
The most interesting theory right now is that Amazon may avoid starting directly in the 41st millennium or jumping straight into the Horus Heresy.
Instead, some fans believe the first project could explore the aftermath of the Heresy, possibly around The Scouring.
That would make sense for one reason:
It gives the show massive stakes without immediately adapting the most sacred material in the entire franchise.
You can explain the fall of the Emperor, the broken dream of humanity and the birth of the Imperium’s nightmare, while still giving the writers room to build new stories without breaking established canon.
But for now, that is speculation.
The only official answer is simple:
The starting point is locked.
And they are not telling us yet.
~~~
4. THE SCALE IS THE REAL PROBLEM
Warhammer 40K might be one of the hardest universes in fiction to adapt properly.
A Space Marine cannot look like a guy in expensive cosplay.
A hive city cannot look like a normal sci-fi city with gothic wallpaper.
A cathedral ship cannot look like a Star Destroyer with candles.
The world needs weight.
It needs scale.
It needs dirt, machinery, skulls, incense, armor, mutation, brutality and religious madness.
No budget has been officially announced, but Amazon does not buy Warhammer, attach Henry Cavill and talk about films, TV and merchandising rights just to make something small.
The risk is obvious:
The bigger the budget gets, the stronger the pressure becomes to make it safer, cleaner and easier for casual audiences.
That is exactly where Cavill’s role matters.
He is the best chance this project has of still feeling like Warhammer.
Because Warhammer should never feel normal.
~~~
5. DO NOT EXPECT IT SOON
This is the painful part.
The project is officially moving, but it is still early.
Games Workshop has said production on films and TV can take a number of years.
Warhammer Community also made it clear that “Project One” is only now going into proper development, with scripts still ahead.
That means anyone expecting a 2027 release is probably dreaming.
A realistic window is closer to 2028 or 2029, depending on how fast scripts, design, casting, filming and post-production move.
And honestly?
That might be a good thing.
This is not the kind of universe you rush.
If Amazon and Cavill get this wrong, Warhammer fans will never forgive it.
But if they get it right, this could become one of the biggest sci-fi fantasy franchises on streaming.
A brutal, gothic, insane cinematic universe built around the darkest future imaginable.
No trailer yet.
No release date yet.
No full cast yet.
But the deal is signed.
The creative guidelines are agreed.
Cavill is still at the center.
And for Warhammer fans, that is the best update so far.
The Emperor protects.
Now Amazon just has to not screw it up.
Pick a number from 1 to 10.
Multiply it by 2.
Add 8.
Divide the result by 2.
Now subtract the number you started with.
Turn your result into a letter:
1=A, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=E
6=F, 7=G, 8=H, 9=I, 10=J
Think of a country that starts with that letter.
Now think of a large animal that starts with the fifth letter of that country.
Leave your answer in the comments before reading anyone else’s. Then check the comments. ✍️ 👀

More stories worth reading: Street Fighter and its chaotic production 👇
nitter.cf/HanScrollo/status/2070…
C*caine, Bangkok massage parlors, a literal military coup, and JCVD out of control almost destroyed a $30M movie 🎬💀
The 1994 Street Fighter movie was an absolute fever dream. How this unhinged production made $100M is a miracle.
Here are the wildest, most chaotic stories behind legendary flop-turned-cult-classic 👇
1. The Pitch & Character Overload 📉
Director Steven de Souza literally wrote the original pitch overnight. He wanted a tight story focused on 7 core characters. Capcom, being Capcom, kept demanding more.
They ended up forcing 15 characters into a 102-minute movie. Complete and utter screen-time warfare.
2. Van Damme was completely out of control 😈
Jean-Claude Van Damme was paid millions to play Colonel Guile (a proudly American hero) using the least American accent humanly possible.
But that was the least of their problems. JCVD was battling a massive $10,000-a-week c*caine addiction during filming.
3. The Studio Babysitter Failed 🍼❌
The director later admitted JCVD was completely unmanageable. He’d constantly call in sick, vanish on random trips to Hong Kong, or lock himself in his hotel room because he needed to "pump his muscles."
The studio literally hired a guy to keep him sober/on set. Plot twist: the babysitter ended up partying and becoming part of the problem.
4. Bangkok's Red Light Distric vs. Military Coups 💥
While JCVD was MIA, the rest of the cast discovered Bangkok’s bars and massage parlors.
To make things more chaotic, an actual military coup was threatened in Thailand. Roads closed. The crew had to escape through Bangkok’s canals in high-speed boats at 1 AM, arriving to set pitch black and soaking wet.
5. Extreme Weather & Extreme Weight Loss 🌞⛈️
The heat was so brutal the actors lost massive amounts of weight in days. If you look closely, characters literally look bigger or smaller depending on if the scene was shot in Thailand or later in Australia.
Oh, and the studio had a tin roof. When it rained, the noise stopped filming. When it stopped, sunlight blinded everyone through actual bullet holes in the walls.
6. Script Fixing ✂️📘
10 days into filming, they were already 6 days behind schedule. The director's solution? He opened the script, ripped a whole page out, threw it in the trash, and said: “Now we’re back on schedule.”
Absolute gigachad move.
7. Zero Training & Real Swords ⚔️🏃
JCVD and Raul Julia took up so much of the budget that the studio couldn't afford martial arts training for the rest of the cast. Halfway through, they realized EVERY character was fighting with the exact same style.
Byron Mann (Ryu) was told he had a sword fight scene just hours before shooting. A Thai stuntman gave him a 10-minute lesson, handed him a REAL blade, and said "Action." No pressure.
8. Accidental Explosions 🧨🔥
One scene required only a quarter of a temple to explode. The pyro crew miscalculated and blew up the entire structure.
Around $240,000 worth of scaffolding melted into liquid metal while JCVD and Kylie Minogue stood just feet away. At least the shot looked sick.
9. The Legendary Raul Julia 👑🐐
Behind all this madness was the true MVP: Raul Julia (M. Bison). He arrived severely weakened by stomach cancer and could barely eat. The crew had to re-arrange the entire schedule so he could gain strength.
He took the role because his kids loved the game. He never lived to see the final cut, but he gave us the most iconic, hammy, legendary performance in cinema history. 💔
10. The Aftermath 💰📺
After c*caine benders, missing actors, zero training, real swords, massive explosions, tropical storms, and a coup... they somehow finished it.
Critics absolutely butchered it. Audiences? They gave it $100 Millions!
+30 years later, we still quote M. Bison, we still laugh at Guile's accent, and we still watch it when it’s on.
For most movie sets, this would be a tragic documentary.
For Street Fighter... it was Tuesday ✍️
