Might just be my timeline, but it’s truly heartening to see so many tributes to Patrick Stewart, Picard, and The Next Generation.

Non-Trekkies might survive the ghost episode, but it's the African Space Tribe in Season 1 that will really rock their jaw.

Beeindruckend. Ergreifend. Ermutigend.
Er war besonders.

I loved this scene growing up (the ending of the ST:TNG Season 4 episode Reunion) both for Patrick Stewart's performance and for the writing. At its core, it's all about how leaders reconcile respect for differences with a shared mission and sense of purpose.

Rewatching this final scene of Star Trek: The Next Generation today hurts.
The world in which this show existed feels long gone.
Every week we watched on “network TV” a strong and virtuous male leader be celebrated.
We grappled with real philosophical questions without cynicism. We laughed without being “irony poisoned.”
We celebrated men and women working together in complementary collaboration—not in zero-sum competition.
That world feels gone, but it doesn’t have to be.
Most of us still hold these values.
We can tell stories like this again.

Jimmy Fallon asked Bill Gates if we'll still need humans after AI. His answer is scary
Jimmy Fallon: "I mean, will we still need humans?"
Bill Gates: "Not for most things."
"The era that we're just starting is that intelligence is rare, you know, a great doctor, a great teacher. And with AI, over the next decade, that will become commonplace."
"In terms of making things and moving things and growing food, over time, those will be basically solved problems."

Captain Picard had an ineffable influence on a young me. There's so many good moments from 'The Drumhead' alone but this scene is seared into my brain. I remember the first time I saw it and how it would come to form my moral compass.
Rest In Peace Patrick Stewart.
