My thoughts on Viktor's ailment align with conditions along like Peripheral Neuropathy. Which can progress over time & can require the foot enclosure to ensure that his foot stays positioned to stop it from catching on the floor with his limited control

Im sure theres more and I'll update if so, essentially Peripheral Neuropathy works with what we've seen, also thematically highlights the Undercity and Piltovers conflict
can be brought on by poverty, toxins, can worsen over time, represents Viktors brain/body disconnect
Light plays such a large role in this and it suits them both so beautifully.
For Jayce its the warmth of a morning ray. Where Viktor should be seen, he's bathed in the cooler tones of moonlight.
Truly night and day; only, without the sun the moon can't shine.
