Donald Trump is now paying a heavy political price for a disastrous miscalculation: allowing Benjamin Netanyahu to convince him that attacking Iran would be an easy military adventure.
What has been presented as a swift and decisive operation has instead become a costly confrontation with serious political consequences.
The 2026 midterm results have delivered a devastating blow to Trump's political standing. Democrats have won control of the Senate, while the battle for the House remains subject to ongoing vote counts.
The Republican grip on Congress has been badly shaken.
There is a bitter lesson here for any president who mistakes another country's strategic interests for America's own. Netanyahu had his agenda; Trump chose to embrace it, and American voters are now judging the consequences.
A president's first responsibility is to his own country, not to the ambitions of a foreign leader.
Blindly following Netanyahu into a war with Iran was a gamble with American lives, resources and political credibility.
After Venezuela, Trump convinced himself that Iran would be another quick and effortless victory.
What an arrogant miscalculation. Iran is an entirely different battlefield, and this time his reckless gamble has come back to haunt him.
The political fallout of this disastrous blunder is spiralling beyond his control, exposing the consequences of confusing military bravado with strategic wisdom.
There is a certain irony in watching a president who promised to put America first suffer the consequences of a foreign-policy gamble that critics argue served Israel's interests at America's expense.
The political bill has arrived.
And it is a bill Trump cannot simply blame on someone else.....

BREAKING: The U.S. is reportedly preparing for an imminent attack on Iran as a massive airlift of advanced air defense systems rushes into southern Israel from Fort Bliss and Ramstein Air Base, per flight-tracking data.
Multiple USAF C-17 cargo aircraft, including RCH748, departed military hubs in Texas, staged through Ramstein Air Base in Germany, and touched down at Nevatim and Ovda airbases in the Negev before immediately returning to Europe.
