So this happened!!! Thank you @JewishLibraries for choosing my manuscript set in Israel! It's based on a true story about mermaid sightings in Kiryat Yam. This story is very special to me. #jewishkidlit #WritingCommunity #jewish #Israel #mermaids

The exclusion of Jewish and Israeli psychologists, discrimination and antisemitic hostility within @APA are indefensible. @ADL has sounded the alarm repeatedly - through our reports, letters and advocacy alongside APA members. The House report makes clear that accountability and meaningful reform are long overdue. jns.org/news/u-s-news/anti-i…

Professional psychology should be guided by science, not ideology. Committee Republicans are exposing how radical activists have pushed political agendas and antisemitism within the American Psychological Association. Read more from @JNS_org: jns.org/news/u-s-news/anti-i…

Glad they talked the dog down.
616 1st Ave; there is a dog that seems to be in distress and trying to jump out a window on the 2nd floor. SPD arrived and is asking for a ladder truck. Not clear what breed of dog it is. There seems to people trying in the unit trying to calm it down.

Emily Damari writes on her Instagram: Just think that just a year and-a-half ago I had to beg for water… Today I am free, and exercising my right to vote, which is also my duty. To vote and influence the future of our country. I used to fight for the right to live, today I’m voting for how we live. Nothing should be taken for granted 🇮🇱 “

Storming historic sites in Rome while waving the Palestinian flag is a little too much historical amnesia for me. An arc in history has reached the end. Shut it down. We're done here.

In his letter urging Washington Gov. Ferguson to reject the tax credit, Chris Reykdal wrote that he's worried groups that distribute scholarships to religious schools will benefit from the tax credit, and accused those schools of discrimination. So if a Jewish school admits Jewish students or a Muslim school admits Muslim students, etc, it's discriminatory, according to Reykdal. Even though in the state, private faith-based institutions have legal discretion to define their educational mission, curriculum, and community standards, which allows them to restrict enrollment or give preference to members of their specific faith. Is his argument that religious groups can never benefit from tax credits? They can and do already, btw. Or is he more concerned that people will pull their kids from public schools, which are only at 60-70% capacity already. It's telling that Jewish groups that lean left, and legislators across the aisle, want the governor to opt in to the tax credit program. We can guess Reykdal's motivation here, but what is the governor's? The governor has until Jan. 1 to decide.
Why do we doubt the Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC)? - There are no rules prohibiting Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs) from discriminating against different student populations. - There is no guarantee that the most in need of support will get it.

BREAKING: After Tulane University told anti-Israel student groups that they couldn't host this on-campus event that accuses Israel of weaponizing infectious diseases in Gaza, but that they could continue to live-stream it, the groups have postponed tonight's lecture. My take: The anti-Israel groups would rather have something to protest or sue for than actually stream the lecture. The school faced massive backlash for hosting the lecture by a Columbia University associate professor which brings back one of the oldest forms of Jew-hatred; accusing Jews of spreading the plague and poisoning wells, used to justify mass murder of Jews and pogroms across Europe. Everything old is new again.

My favorite thing about scrolling on tiktok is coming across a post of Daniella Gilboa getting her makeup done and looking happy and hanging with her friends. A reminder that Hashem performs miracles. That we saw miracles in our time.

SCOOP: A high school ethnic studies course at a Pittsburgh public school directs students to read a 20-year-old academic article, published after Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, that suggests that Gazans are trapped in the Gaza Strip just as Jews were trapped in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Holocaust. Some quotes from the reading, assigned during week 5 of the course, which focuses on Indigenous Resistance and Settler Colonialism: "As Palestinians become more and more dispensable, Gaza and the West Bank become less and less like Bantustans, and more and more like reservations. Or, for that matter, like the Warsaw Ghetto." "It is hardly surprising that a nation that has driven so many of its original inhabitants into the sand should express an abiding fear of itself being driven into the sea." "Zionism’s chronic addiction to territorial expansion."

So his group was in a closed military zone, where they were not allowed to be, in a foreign country? They were told to leave by soldiers whose job it is to keep citizens and tourists safe? He and his group were taken to a police station by bus, then safely released? I'm not disputing what happened or commenting on if it was wrong. But I am curious, for people criticizing Israel for giving its critics air time, or for people criticizing the IDF and police for detaining the group, what would you have done differently? Would you, as a commander, have instructed your unit to allow tourists to remain in a closed military zone, knowing they were only harvesting olives and likely not planning anything crazy, just to avoid the bad PR? Or would you have followed protocol? Even with a dozen of the tourists and activists making Instagram influencer-style videos?
Everyone in our Protect the Harvest delegation has been released. The Israelis who were with us have also received 15-30 day bans from the West Bank, which unfortunately means they will be unable to participate in the olive harvest. Thank you to everyone for the kind words and support throughout the day. For now, just feeling very grateful that our group is safe.
