And Brian Shotty can win 2 games in a row
Michael Jordan has a 8 year stretch where he never lost 2 games in a row. That is a real stat that matters. Not all this other bullshit that has zero impact on winning. 🤷🏾♂️ #nba

Black pants and black helmets and not a bit of black on the jerseys. Doesn’t match at all.
If you changed the blue on the jerseys to black with a blue outline, you’d have a hit imo.

Successful Musts for basketball teams to reach potential.
1. Establish Roles from the get go. Who are your shooters, Drivers, Defenders, Rebounders. Green light 3's, Only inside 10 shooters, etc.
2. Do this as a team in front of the team. Help players embrace being a star in their role.
3. Watch film as a team & don't shy away from critiques/areas of improvement.
4. Hold them accountable (consequences for not doing their role)
5. Clear communication to parents, players will have roles clearly defined.
6. Listen to your players, be available to your players
Win as a team, lose as a team, but need to play as a team.

Joe Mazzulla on the importance of building a culture that doesn’t depend solely on the head coach.
“You don't want to be the sole person controlling the environment. You almost want it to run better when you're not around because that's a testament of the people.”
If your culture only works when you’re watching, then you've merely just created compliance.
The best environments are sustained by the people and shared ownership inside them.

Every coach processes information differently.
The job is figuring out how they want to see it and building around that.

An underrated skill for assistant coaches: Learning how to manage up.
Understand what your Head Coach needs.
Know when to bring them a problem.
Know when to solve it yourself.
Learn how they communicate.
Anticipate what’s coming.
Disagree appropriately.
Making your boss better is a skill.
And people remember who made their jobs easier.

In my opinion, High School Basketball rules need to change if you want to see more kids stay home and not go prep.
1) The best players need more gym access with unlimited contact days.
2) The rule where HS Coaches can’t coach their players in AAU needs to be abolished.

As a coach, I think we’ve got youth basketball backwards.
We chase games when we should be building players.
USA Basketball recommends:
8–12: 70% training / 30% competition
12–15: 60% / 40%
14–17: 50% / 50%
Playing more isn’t the same as developing more. I actually like this recommendation. 8-12 is really focusing on skill development. That’s been my approach.
