Every season, South Texas farmers have to protect their crops from pests and plant disease while dealing with limited water.
In the House-passed FY27 Agriculture Appropriations bill, I helped secure a $500,000 increase for USDA research on aflatoxin, a toxin produced by mold that can damage corn and other crops.
The bill also maintains funding for the National Cotton Germplasm Collection, which supports research to improve cotton quality, yields, and pest management. It also provides $500,000 for research on irrigation, water management, and soil health.
I will continue working to make sure South Texas producers have access to the research that keeps them competitive.

Water is critical to the Valley’s farms, families, and future.
We’re bringing $1 million in federal funding to connect the Le Grand Athlone and Chowchilla Water Districts.
This project will give both districts greater flexibility to move water where it’s needed, helping maintain reliable drinking water supplies and keep crops growing during dry years.

We delivered $3.15 million in federal funding to Bear Creek to improve flood protection, upgrade infrastructure, and restore habitat along the creek.
This investment will help protect our community from flooding and preserve a place where Merced families can walk, bike, and enjoy the outdoors.

I joined my colleagues in leading a bipartisan letter urging President Trump to fully enforce sanctions against Russia and cut off a major source of funding for Putin’s war against Ukraine.
As the war continues, the United States must increase pressure on Putin to take negotiations seriously and work toward a lasting peace.

Congress's approval is at an all-time low—and when you look under the hood, it’s easy to see why. Across America, families are making tough choices every day to balance their checkbooks and pay their bills on time. Meanwhile, in Congress, the rules seem to be different.
It doesn’t have to be this way. The Congressional Budget Reform Act of 2026 will hold Washington accountable. This is how we restore fiscal stability—and put working Americans back in control.

Americans deserve fiscal stability and responsible government, but the nation’s skyrocketing debt and ailing fiscal health are making life more expensive for families and threatening the prosperity of future generations.
It’s time to do something about it. 🧵
Congress hasn’t passed a budget on time since 1996. Today, shutdowns and last-minute packages are routine, and the debt is at $40T.
That's why we're introducing the Congressional Budget Reform Act to restore fiscal responsibility and add guardrails to our broken budget process.

To cut electricity costs, we need to generate more domestic energy & build transmission lines to get it to homes & businesses. The Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026 builds on my bill with @repwesterman to get shovels in the ground.
The Senate should pass it🧵

First in @PunchbowlNews midday: The House Democratic Blue Dog Coalition is endorsing the Senate’s bipartisan permitting bill. The group of 10 moderate Dems tells me "Congress must clear the logjam and move permitting reform forward, not punt the issue to a future Congress"
Americans’ electricity bills keep rising, while the additional energy production and transmission capacity needed to reduce costs languish in regulatory limbo. It's long past time for Congress to clear the logjam and advance permitting reform.

Congrats to Bergen County's own Valley Health System and all eight NJ employers Forbes ranked among America's best for healthcare professionals. Our doctors, nurses, and health care workers are some of the world’s best. They deserve workplaces that take care of them too.

For years, Madera has been working to upgrade its sewer system and keep up with the needs of a growing community.
Now, $2 million in federal funding is on the way to help complete the final section of the Avenue 13 sewer main, from Granada Avenue to Highway 99.
Infrastructure projects like this help keep the Valley moving forward.

Important that USDA has approved my request for $4 million in funding to help address the glassy-winged sharpshooter issue. This funding will help the California Department of Food and Agriculture as they lead the response and conduct trace-forward activities.

Truckers are vital to an American economy that creates good jobs and builds durable economic agency for working families.
This Truck Driver Appreciation Week, we thank the truckers who keep their foot on the gas of our economy!
Today, we remember the thousands who lost their lives 25 years ago and those whose lives were forever altered in the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
We honor the first responders who charged into danger and those who raised their right hand to defend our nation in its time of need.

Happy #LaborDay! Today, we honor the workers whose skill, dedication, and contributions keep our communities thriving. I will continue to work hard in Congress to support good-paying jobs, and fight for strong worker protections as well as an economy where hard work pays off.
