Its programme features exhibitions, performances and other cultural events inspired by the region's natural and cultural heritage.
Demonstrators gathered outside Azerbaijan’s Embassy in London, displaying Iranian flags and placards concerning hijab regulations.
The small group held flags bearing portraits of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, alongside “Hands Off My Hijab” placards. Participants chanted slogans including “Hands off my hijab” and “Let our sisters learn today”.
The gathering also featured materials distributed by the UK-based Islamic Human Rights Commission.
Unfortunately Donahue can’t reconcile his original argument when it’s stress tested…
It wasn’t even a hard or trick question.

It is given your comment. Let’s try again: Does a Palestinian nation have a right to exist?

We've all had those types of days...
Regardless of what you think of the Budget, or the politics, we can all appreciate how difficult it is to present your work of months - let alone in front of the whole country.
Cheers @JohnHealey_MP 🍻
The same organisation - the UN - says that only a court with jurisdiction to assess a case for genocide are the only ones who can establish the narrow, legal definition of “genocide”.
People using this word generically are doing so in bad faith, not because it’s been proven.
UK Budget expectations 👇
🚨 NEW: John Healey is set to announce the following in his Budget later
- The gas standing charge will be scrapped to save £27 a year on a typical bill
- Green levies on energy bills will be scraped "for good"
- NHS prescription charges will be frozen at £9.90 for another year
- Poorer households on benefits will receive extra help with energy bills before January's sharp rises
- The VAT cut on electricity bills, which was due to expire in April, will be extended (though it's not clear if this will be announced in the Budget or separately)
- The Government will remove the link between gas and electricity prices, which currently inflates household bills, "in the long term"
- Banks will face higher taxes, with the surcharge on their profits potentially rising from 3% to 8%, making it the Budget’s biggest revenue raiser
- HMRC will be given powers to seize money from the bank accounts of people who fail to pay their tax
- The freeze on rail fares will reportedly not be extended beyond April
- Online retailers like Amazon, eBay and Temu will be made responsible for collecting unpaid VAT from sellers to fund a cut in business rates for high street shops
- The thresholds for income tax will be frozen again so another half a million people may be dragged into the higher rate
- January's planned increase in fuel duty will be cancelled
- Pensioners relying solely on the state pension will see their tax-free allowance rise to £13,036, in line with the pension increase, so they don't pay income tax
- Billions in long-term borrowing to invest in defence firms and raise the share of GDP spent on defence (without breaking fiscal rules, as the investments are expected to generate returns)
- The upcoming "Your First Home" scheme will be made more generous to provide greater support for middle-income earners
- The Budget will also assume the Rosebank oil field is approved, which will generate "significant tax revenues"
The Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP will present his first Budget at about 12.30pm UK time today. This is Burnham’s first major fiscal event.
Israel’s election has ended in an apparent deadlock, with exit polls showing neither Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor his main rival, Gadi Eisenkot, on track to secure a majority in the 120-seat Knesset.
The stalemate could allow Netanyahu to remain in power in a caretaker capacity while political parties negotiate to form a governing coalition. Final results could take days, and smaller parties may hold the balance of power.
The vote drew record turnout in the first election since the Hamas-led attacks of 7 October 2023 and the ensuing wars in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.
Without a clear majority, Israel could face prolonged coalition negotiations or another election.

Another lie by @RaheemKassam. What a sad excuse for a “unionised journalist”

I taught Poppy during her Master's. She's an exceptional journalist who will only get better. Labelling her as "scum" shows you up as little more than an unimaginative sneering little bully. She's written up what was said on the broadcast, and Reform have provided a response. And you're confusing infiltration with freelancing. But given your track record, facts were never your strong suit.
For those saying there is a "genocide" in Gaza, there is a very important document you need to read by the very organisation which will be adjudicating.
TL;DR - you can only call it a genocide when there is a legally defined "specific intent" by the ICJ.

LBC RAJAR figures show that more than half of people listen to the station outside of London: rajar.co.uk/docs/2026_06/202…
But "unionised journalist" @RaheemKassam here doesn't often report facts - just conjecture and swear words.
And people wonder why journalists get a bad rap...
