Hilda Espipia was born in Bogotá, Colombia, in 1945. Her mother tried to end the pregnancy with herbal concoctions. They failed.
Hilda grew up frail. Her mother abused her. In therapy as an adult, Hilda learned she had been unwanted, and her mother admitted the attempts.
By 1992, Hilda was married with four children. Her mother lived with them, and Hilda took care of her.

In 1992, a 17-year-old was convinced by Planned Parenthood counselors to have an abortion. Her family was told it was complete.
A month later, doctors found it had failed — the pregnancy hadn't ended. One doctor claimed the baby had "abnormalities" and urged a second abortion. She refused. Another physician said plainly: "This little baby is meant to be."
Lauren Pulliam was born that November, "absolutely perfect in every way."

It’s also worth noting that USAID was intentionally trying to suppress population growth in developing nations:

Have you ever wondered why the pro-life movement opposes surrogacy? The story of Baby Gabriel helps explain why.
Diagnosed before birth with a serious but treatable heart condition, Gabriel’s intended parents reportedly wanted his surrogate mother to abort him. She refused—and Gabriel was given the chance to live.
His story raises troubling questions about an industry where children can become the subject of contracts and expectations.
Surrogacy can involve the creation and destruction of embryos, the commercialization of women’s bodies, and arrangements that risk treating children as products to be accepted—or rejected.
A child is not a product. A woman is not a womb for rent. And no contract should determine whether a human life is worthy of protection.

This little girl is not in the video. She wasn't even born. But she is moved to tears watching her mother and father get married. Why?
Marriage researcher and family therapist Pat Fagan once told me:
"When a child sees their mother loving their father they feel like their mother is loving them. When they see their father loving their mother they feel like their father is loving them. It is the only time in the human experience where you can be loved indirectly. No one's even looking at you or touching you or talking to you, but you feel loved."
That is not the case with a step parent, he said. The child may tolerate the romantic expression. But they do not experience that same circuitous love. More often they feel competition or jealousy.
If every child could order their own world, this is what they would say:
"I want my mom and dad to love me and I want my mom and dad to love each other."
Sometimes that's not possible. Woe to a culture that intentionally denies that to children in the name of adult freedom.

One of the best priests I know
Please keep Fr. Francesco Giordano in your prayers as he teaches a month-long course at St. Peter's College in Malaysia. Here, he joins the seminarians in celebrating the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul.
This opportunity is a beautiful fruit of the relationships formed through the Asia-Pacific Conference on Life and Family (ASPAC), where collaboration in service of the Gospel continues to bear fruit across the region.
May Sts. Peter and Paul intercede for Fr. Giordano, the seminarians, and all those preparing to serve Christ and His Church.

NEW: HHS notified 53 organizations, including several Planned Parenthood affiliates, that they will no longer receive taxpayer funds after pushing “sexually explicit” content on kids.
Planned Parenthood California Central Coast; Planned Parenthood of The Heartland Inc.; the Wisconsin Department of Health; the Maryland Department of Health; the Baltimore City Health Department; the Oklahoma City County Health Department; and more received letters saying their grants were terminated.
Many of the grantees used curricula that encouraged sexual activity as they presented on teen pregnancy prevention at schools, according to documents obtained by @DailySignal.

They’re also WAY happier than the general population:
“Among those surveyed, nearly 99% of people with Down syndrome indicated that they were happy with their lives; 97% liked who they are; and 96% liked how they look. Nearly 99% people with Down syndrome expressed love for their families, and 97% liked their brothers and sisters.”
Given the amount of prescribed SSRIs and mental health issues plaguing our world right now, it’s incredible that the stats are this high for people with Down syndrome.
