I was honoured to kick off @Hurst_Classics big Roman Afternoon today with my talk 'Mysteries of Ancient Rome' to year 7. It was great to hear kids laugh over Zoom as I concluded my presentation with my infamous sponge-stick routine. Please send pictures of the rest of the day? 😁

Y'all, I made a timeline of authors for my Greek and Roman lit survey class and I'm quite proud of it. Was it supposed to be done for last class and wasn't because I got way too into it? Technically, yes. But I maintain it's worth it.

#OvidNotCovid episode 1! The first in my new series of short videos on Ovid's Heroides. Today we cover the first poem, a letter from the long-suffering Penelope to her husband Odysseus/Ulysses, who is off somewhere with too few consonants to be safe... 1/4

The conspirators included most famously Brutus (x2), Cassius and Casca. The famed orator Cicero was not included in their plot, although wrote later that he wished he had been invited to that "feast... on the Ides of March"

Caesar: The Ides of March are come.
Soothsayer: Ay, Caesar, but not gone.
On this day in 44BC, Julius Caesar was killed by his fellow senators, not in the senate house as is commonly mistaken, but in a theatre constructed by his old rival, Pompey.
