1/50 This is a one-stop-shop thread for all the states in our #50Weeks50Constitutions series.
Remember, the threads are in chronological order of oldest state constitution. First up, New Hampshire:

1. Before the “united States of America” declared their independence in July 1776, a few of them had pretty much done that already by adopting their own written constitutions. The first one was New Hampshire, on January 5 of that year. #50Weeks50Constitutions

People who want other people to use public transportation for ideological reasons rarely appreciate how much basic competence would help their cause.
Washington commanders fans get locked in the metro.
It took so long for the train to get home that by the time it arrived at the final station, there were no employees there and all the doors were locked.
So tons of people were just trapped.
It normally takes like an hour to get home on the metro but today it took two hours. So everybody was already like frustrated.
Thank goodness the commanders won lol
Anyways, your final update, somebody showed up and let us out. The game ended at 11:27 PM and I got home at 1:59 AM.
I may never Metro again lol

Here’s a story for you. We started filming without owning the title and had to do alternates.
Taft Broadcasting owned the title Ghostbusters as part of their half-hour sitcom starring Larry Storch and Forrest Tucker (F-Troop) and a gorilla chasing ghosts. I had never heard of it. They didn’t have proton packs or Bill Murray. Columbia paid $500,000 to buy the name, but they really should have paid Dean Martin, from whom I first heard the term.
In the film Scared Stiff (1953), he and Jerry Lewis (check out his acrobatic stair descent) are in an old haunted castle, and Lizabeth Scott asks Dean: “Who are you guys?” And Dean answers: “You’ve heard of Trustbusters and Gangbusters, we’re Ghostbusters!”
For my research writing the first movie, I watched every single ‘ghost’ comedy ever made. Bowery Boys, Hope and Crosby, Abbot and Costello, Martin and Lewis all did such films.
Happy Halloween 2026.

The Trump era is ending.
It will not end quietly. MAGA will make sure of that. Expect political violence, pain, and economic suffering.
In this upcoming period, what you do, what you say, and what you excuse will define you for the rest of your life.

What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
Saw him on stage in Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf at the Guthrie in Minneapolis in 2003 or so. He was magnificent. RIP.
BREAKING: Patrick Stewart, acting legend of "Star Trek" and "X-Men" fame, dies at 86. apnews.com/article/patrick-s…
Congratulations to the Seattle Pilots, who with this championship become the first team at one time based in the city to win a World Series.
My favorite same-name-on-ballot story is the 26 year old man who changed his name to "Margaret Thatcher" & attempted to run against her in 1983. He said he was of the "Conservationist" party & his campaign manager was "R. Reagan."
Everyone in the extremely damning @nytimes report exposing the Peltola/Democratic role in the Dans Sullivan Maneuver sure did seem to know that it would be bad if they got caught.
Want to pay MORE to file your taxes?
Congress may mandate #OccupationalLicensing for tax preparers, 12 yrs after courts struck down #IRS's attempt to do so via regs.
@IJ & a #freemarket coalition oppose this costly mandate, which will increase costs to #consumers for tax prep + burden nearly half a million tax preparers, likely driving upwards of 100,000 small tax prep businesses to close shop.
The #licensing provision is in the TAS Act, which has already passed the Senate, so it's up to the House of Representatives to stop this burdensome new licensing scheme. @HouseGOP

The time of day is one of the few issues where the public sees a direct link between real life and public policy. No public choice problem. If we made DST permanent (again) there would be immediate revolt after people in northern states went to work & school on winter mornings.

It's the latest Unpublished Opinions, Halloween edition! Hear @JohnWrench_ @DianaKSimpson & @pjaicomo percolation re percolation, enumerate Congress's spiritual powers, and, speaking of spirits, consider the duty to disclose spirits in one's home.

I wish Branagh did more Shakespeare flicks. It's like we were cheated of the plays he didn't make a movie of.
But of those he has done, this may be my favorite scene.
Happy St Crispin's Day!
"But we in it shall be rememberèd—
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition"

Hearing this article discussed on a #GLoP episode would be like distributing crack to their listeners. @rcbl @jpodhoretz @JonahDispatch.

Interesting state v. federal power issue with an intra-federal separation of powers bonus feature. Would be a fun law school exam if it weren't deathly real.
I brought a microphone to the Tenth Circuit Ben & Bar Conference. You won't believe what I heard!
(Don't worry, all recorded voices were very willing and able to be included.)

Just such a fun chart here from @greg_ip. If only we could tease out some meaning. Ah, well, nevertheless. 🤣
