So, Brisbane - I'm presenting at a "Technical HPE User Groups" event tomorrow night (29/1/20), on the latest updates to the #HPE #SimpliVity HCI platform. Registration is officially closed, but we can probably accept a few walk-ins. h22166.www2.hpe.com/event/ev…

Pro tip: If you're a VMware administrator and you're still using the old Flash-based vSphere Web Client management tools, you need to get off them. Chrome is already making it hard to use, as of a rapidly approaching date in 2020, it will be impossible...
Flash (Adobe Flash, not flash storage) is dying.

For as long as I can remember in IT, Cray has been the name synonymous with supercomputing. Cray is now part of the HPE family. nitter.cf/AntonioNeri_HPE/status…
More #data-driven insights. More #AI-enabled outcomes. More turn-key solutions. That’s what our customers can expect with our acquisition of supercomputing leader, @cray_inc. Happy to officially welcome the team to the @HPE family! hpe.com/us/en/newsroom/blog-…

For what it's worth, @ITProAssoc is doing what it can to educate and improve outcomes from govt. It's not going to be an overnight success, of course. But we're doing what we can. – at Sydney, New South Wales

Sad. Because this appears to literally be their only function.
Despite a steady stream of data breach reporting, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner is *reducing* the frequency of reporting, going from 3-monthly to 6-monthly reporting. itnews.com.au/news/oaic-redu…

IBM has moved out of the Cumberland Forest site. crn.com.au/news/ibm-farewell… There were rumours that the site was used by IBM on a long-term lease, and that it was slated to become a hospital once they exited. Now it will become a residential development.

To clarify - @NBN_Australia should not care what is encapsulated inside the layer 2 frames that pass over their network. Even if they were a layer 3 construct (so interested in IP transit), the contents of the packets they'd be responsible for should not concern them. – at Sydney, New South Wales

"It's not a tax, it's a levy. And it's not just on Netflix, other streaming services will be impacted too." First they attacked gamers, until we pointed out to them that gaming uses miniscule amounts of data. Now they're attacking legal media streaming. What's next? – at Sydney, New South Wales

ACCC unsure about NBN's proposed "NetFlix Tax" itnews.com.au/news/accc-unsu… What is there to be unsure about? NBN is a layer 2 construct, and it's now trying to influence how higher level services are consumed. This attacks net neutrality. The ACCC needs to come down on this hard.

The idea of Australians paying more so we can stream Netflix over our already mediocre broadband network is unacceptable.
itnews.com.au/news/nbn-co-fl… I can see the ads now - "NBN50 with typical evening speeds of 43.8Mbps for $79.95/month, unless you want to stream legal content, in which case it will be $89.95/month & typical evening speeds of 38.4Mbps" On what planet is this considered acceptable?
