On #UNDay, I think of our 🇺🇳colleagues across #Lebanon who faced displacement, loss &fear themselves, yet continued to support communities in need.
Behind every response are ppl who often share the hardships of those they serve. Deep respect &gratitude for🇱🇧 🇺🇳staff dedication.
Behind every humanitarian response are people living thru same crisis:🇺🇳colleagues who were displaced &experienced loss, yet continued supporting others
This #UNDay, we stand with #Lebanon &its people, supporting recovery & a more stable future for all

In a field visit today with UNRC @Imran_Riza &🇺🇳, I met the women of Al Joud Cooperative, whose farmland &greenhouse were damaged during the conflict.
With new greenhouses, FAO in collab with @MoaLebanon will help them bring their land back to life.
🧵1/5 In Froun, South🇱🇧,families are returning to destruction. Many have lost homes, livelihoods & access to basic services.
Their determination to return is clear. But returning is only the start. People need safe homes, water, electricity &opportunities to rebuild their lives.
4/5 In Zebdine, I met women farmers whose cooperative was destroyed during the war.
They want to restore production, earn a living &support their families.
Supporting farmers helps reduce dependence on aid.
At Burj Qalaway in South🇱🇧, I listened to children back to learning. Their dreams reflect what they’ve endured:
Adam wants to help people with trauma, Hassan to rebuild as an engineer &Amani to tell the world what they’ve witnessed as a journalist.
Heartbreaking, yet inspiring
At @MCFMI & @unwomenlebanon’s event, I stressed that #Lebanon’s recovery must be Government-led, coordinated & shaped by local priorities.
Across south #Lebanon, I’ve met women working tirelessly to help their communities rebuild. Their leadership must shape recovery decisions.
