Being a dad of a 17 yr old daughter driving is comical at times. She says brakes are having issues, obviously that concerns me for safety. I go out with her to look. I ask if she checked the fluid, says no. Turns out, brake fluid is completely empty. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

In Remembrance of Beirut #OTD in 1983, a terrorist bombing at the Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, claimed the lives of 241 U.S. service members, including 220 Marines, serving as part of the Multinational Force in Lebanon. On October 23, a suicide bomber drove a truck laden with explosives into the barracks where U.S. Marines were stationed on a peacekeeping mission. The attack devastated the building and became one of the deadliest days in Marine Corps History. The Marines in Beirut were deployed to help restore peace and stability amid escalating violence in Lebanon. Despite the dangers they faced, they carried out their mission with courage, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to one another. The Beirut bombing left a lasting mark on the #MarineCorps and the nation. We remember the lost lives, honor the wounded and survivors, and recognize the families and loved ones who continue to carry the weight of that day. Their sacrifice remains woven into the legacy of every #Marine who has answered the call to serve. Today, we pause to remember the 241 American service members who never made it home and honor their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty. They came in peace. They will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace! Tragically, leaves behind wife and child who hopefully will not have to constantly see the video of his fall on social media.
The military community is mourning the loss of TSgt Ian Patterson, a 15-year US Air Force veteran and Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) instructor. While stationed with the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Detachment 2, at Joint Base San Antonio, he died on October 17 after a tragic fall during a pregame rappelling demonstration at the Alamodome before UTSA’s Salute to Armed Forces & Veterans game against Navy. From Fort Stewart, Georgia, Patterson was a highly decorated airman, and recipient of the Air and Space Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters and named Air Force Special Warfare Enlisted Instructor of the Year in 2022. His service mattered deeply to his wing, teammates, family, and friends. An investigation is underway. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and all who served alongside him.

Good thing this father was there and did what had to be done to stop the threat. I'm sure they will try and go after him for carrying into school grounds, but I'm sure there was no way he would've just stood around waiting while people were dying.
Kaylub Giamanco is the hero bystander who heard shots, ran into the school, and neutralized the shooter He saved many lives. He deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom 🏅

Happy 251 years to the worlds greatest Navy!
The Framers of the Constitution understood our freedom depended on our strength at sea. That is why generations of Sailors have answered the call to protect our nation on the deck, beneath the waves, and in the skies above. 251 years. One team. One fight. 🇺🇸⚓

At 11:18am on October 12, 2000, a small boat pulled alongside the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Cole in Aden Harbor, Yemen. After waving to the sailors on deck, the crew of the smaller boat detonated an explosive shaped charge estimated at 200-300 kg, killing themselves and seventeen U.S. sailors onboard the USS Cole.  Costing close to two-billion dollars and designed in the 1980s to counter the Soviet threat, this symbol of U.S. military power and technological superiority was nearly sunk by a non-state actor for a relatively small investment of resources. The attack on the USS Cole was a victory for bin Laden and al-Qaeda, attracting funds and recruits to the cause. As with previous attacks on U.S. military assets and civilians abroad, the U.S. did not respond. Bin Laden had issued “fatwās” declaring war on America in 1996 and 1998 and had attacked the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998. The United States failed to realize it was already at war. That realization would come on a sunny Tuesday morning less than a year later on September 11, 2001. For more on the attack on the USS Cole, read FRONT BURNER by Commander Kirk S. Lippold, USN (Ret) @KirkLippold .

Okay, we are going to nip an argument in the bud today. Yes, terrorists will celebrate the execution of Nidal Hasan, just as they celebrated the murder of his victims. They glorify dying for their cause, and of course, will use it in propaganda. But the argument that his execution will somehow unleash a massive wave of terrorist recruitment or inspire waves of suicide bombers needs to stop. That motivation already exists, look at the waves of new recruits after the fall of Kabul, after October 7th, and after the fall of Assad. There are over a dozen terrorist camps in Afghanistan right now that soley train suicide bombers. These people want to destroy your way of life, plots bigger than 9/11 have been in the works since late 2021 and early 2022. The mere fact that I am a woman speaking out against them is enough for them to justify killing me, that is why there is a fatwa to do just that. So whatever your opinion is on a live-streamed execution, have that opinion. But don't use the terrorists as your excuse. Stop pretending we need to worry about upsetting people who already want us dead. Now, if you actually want to understand how terrorists inspire recruits, watch the video below. This is the most watched video, TODAY, inside Al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan. The Taliban were great and posted it online for all of us to use. The video shows Jamaluddin Haqqani saying goodbye to Sirajuddin and the late Badruddin Haqqani before what recruits are told is him leaving to carry out a suicide bombing. But recruits are never told who Jamaluddin really is or that he is a member of the Haqqani family. Instead, he is sold as an ordinary fighter, just like them, receiving extraordinary love and admiration from terrorist leadership that he "earned" because he was willing to die for the cause. The entire story sold to new recruits is built on deception and lies. First, Jamaluddin was literally family, hence the emotion. Second, Jamaluddin never actually even carried out a suicide bombing. He was killed a couple of years after this video was filmed, in the same U.S. strike that killed Badruddin. So stop pretending one American execution is what inspires these people. This same argument has helped keep 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed alive for two decades, and it's weak. Terrorist organizations already have entire systems dedicated to manufacturing hate through manipulation and deception. We need to stop letting the fear of how terrorists might react dictate our decisions. And remember, terrorist stories never have happy endings anyway.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has recommended — and President Donald J. Trump has approved — death by U.S. Army firing squad for convicted terrorist Nidal Malik Hasan, the jihadist who opened fire on unarmed American soldiers at Fort Hood in 2009. He killed 13 people and wounded 32 others while shouting “Allahu Akbar” during the attack. The Secretary of the Army will set the time and place of the execution. Judgement day for Hasan has finally come.

Wow. Co-pilot stabbed the pilot in reported terror attack, possibly to crash the aircraft into Israel. Crew and pax subdued the attacker after forcing entry into the cockpit. Insanity.
According to reports, the details of the mid-air drama have emerged: the co-pilot—acting as an attacker—began stabbing the captain in an attempt to seize control of the plane and crash it, with its passengers on board, into Israeli territory. The captain resisted and activated distress signals. Flight attendants attempted to enter the cockpit, while Israeli passengers who realized what was happening forcibly broke in, subdued the co-pilot, and removed him from the cockpit. The captain, having sustained multiple stab wounds, was incapacitated. Miraculously, two Israeli pilots were on board flying back to Israel; they were the ones who landed the aircraft, which otherwise would have crashed. "A great miracle happened to us today," said one of the passengers. Pictured: An Israeli citizen who helped subdue the attacker, his clothes stained with the wounded captain's blood.

What a complete badass!
22 seconds. That is how long it took for a 23 year old staff sergeant from Alabama to save the lives of his entire B-29 crew on a mission to Japan in 1945. He had to carry a burning phosphorus bomb 25 feet through the aircraft. He held it against his body while it burned through to the bone. This is the story of Red Erwin...🧵1/5
