She has been taken from the only home she has ever known in Assam, loaded onto a truck and transported nearly 𝟑,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬 to a temple in Tamil Nadu. 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐥𝐝. 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐚, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝? 💔 And now 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰. Perhaps the law provides a pathway for these transfers. But surely there must be something greater than the law. 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐂𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄. 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍. 𝐇𝐔𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐘. 𝐄𝐌𝐏𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐘. Elephants are supremely intelligent, deeply emotional and profoundly social beings. They form lifelong bonds. They grieve. They comfort. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫. And here lies the most heartbreaking paradox: Durga has been brought into a temple where the elephant-headed 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐞. How can we bow before Lord Ganesha while denying His living embodiment the very things we cherish for ourselves—𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲, 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐄? 💔𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐚 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩.
