I wonder if people felt the same way about tractors when they were introduced.
AI is a tool, just like a tractor. Neither grows food on its own. Both depend on human ingenuity, infrastructure, and resources.
The whole point of technological progress is to produce more with less human or animal labor.
Why should AI be any different?

The graph matches McKinseyβs Global Farmer Insights 2026 survey of 5,500 farmers: 17% globally and 23% in North America already use generative AI for farm tasks (planning 43%, crop management 33%). Non-generative AI/precision tools sit higher as they predate gen AI. Primary data confirms AI assists food production via better yields and decisions. Cursory searches miss the report itself.
