the concept of @O2AcademyLpool bosses thinking people tripping over my broken foot is SAFER than letting me wheel onto barrier nothing securing the wheelchair bays from GA, no safeguarded view? if wheelchair users can’t see what we’ve PAID to see, we won’t keep your venue open!

#Nimbus cards do not improve accessibility. They lock us out of accessing seats that we are supposed to be able to. Unless we’re willing to •Pay a fee •Have a non medic view our personal information •Be reassessed each 3 years/each year
We've gone from hiding #disabled people away to literally hiding the accessible seats from disabled people. And @nimbusdis and @yorkbarbican are calling this progress and fair!? #disabilitydiscrimination

We seem to have invented an entire industry around asking disabled people to prove what they’ve already proved. DWP letter? Not enough. Blue Badge? Not enough. Medical evidence? Hand it over. OT assessment? Hand that over too. Someone else will now assess your assessments. 🪡

Stop excusing inaccessibility for disabled people. It’s not trivial, benign or harmless. Inaccessibility is isolation, segregation and exclusion. At its core, it is an attack on the freedom and humanity of disabled people. It is harm.

Lancaster considered Nimbus and reached an important conclusion: Disabled people should NOT have to obtain a Nimbus Access Card or any other third-party card as a mandatory condition for reasonable adjustments.🪡 #Nimbus

Nimbus now has a £1.7m contract supporting decisions on Disabled Persons Railcards. So this isn’t just an optional “access card” anymore. A private disability-verification company is becoming embedded in national transport. find-tender.service.gov.uk/N… #Nimbus

@nimbusdis own free alternative” is misleading if #disabled people have to repeat forms, upload evidence and be reassessed venue by venue each booking they make, while £15 buys one reusable card that avoids all that Free isn’t equal if the free route is deliberately harder to use

#Disabled people need to know this: Rail Delivery Group has awarded @nimbusdis a £1.75m contract to decide Disabled Persons Railcard eligibility, reviewing medical/benefit evidence. This goes far beyond an access card. Where is the scrutiny of assessors, appeals and safeguards?

@nimbusdis Why should a #disabled person who already has official evidence, PIP, Blue Badge, medical reports or stuff, have to satisfy a private third-party assessment before a venue will provide an adjustment? Who decided this extra gatekeeping was necessary?

"They wouldn't treat *insert disability here* like this!" "They wouldn't do this to *insert disability here*" Yes. They do. Systemic ableism impacts every single disability whether you know it or not. Stop pretending some disabilities get treated with respect when none do.

this has been talked to death already but learning about bands through their live set is genuinely unmatched and i really hope more people become open to this instead of fan policing who does and doesn't 'deserve' tickets
am i petty to be pissed off at this like im sorry but that ticket could've gone to an actual fan

I don’t know how many times I have to say this but it appears so many just don’t get it…PIP IS NOT AN OUT OF WORK BENEFIT..it helps disabled people stay in their jobs, without it they’ll be claiming UC and other benefits which come with it..stop picking on disabled people 😡

Accommodations aren’t special treatment. They’re what happens when we stop pretending everyone starts from the same place. Stop treating them like perks.

Disabled people don't always have a carer. Any accessibility which relies on a disabled person's carer doing something for them, is probably not truly accessible. Not everyone can afford a carer, or has a partner or friend who can help.

i disagree and it's because i think live music needs to be accessible to ALL listeners. even casual listeners. even people who want to go to a concert to discover new music. even people who just enjoy live music regardless of the artist.
you shouldn’t go to a concert if you don’t know the lyrics to all the songs on the setlist sorry

You cannot call us disabled people “hard to employ” while refusing accessible recruitment, workplace adjustments and inclusive cultures. The barrier is not disability… the barrier is discrimination. #DisabilityJustice
