More than just speaker panels: I'm tired of homogeny within leadership positions, grant awardees, new hires, scientists in media... #LatinxAtlas was designed to make identifying deserving candidates outside the majority easier - spread the word to those who need to know! 🧵
Tired of wondering why conference speaker panels are not more diverse, Fred Hutch Faculty member and #latina @CterminiPhD , decided to do something about it. She created the Atlas of Inspiring Hispanic/Latinx #Scientists .

So happy/excited/relieved that I successfully defended my PhD dissertation last week!!
Very thankful for my wonderful mentors, especially @LeungLab and @ProteomicsNews , and all of my fantastic collaborators that made my project possible!
It’s been a tough and emotional journey, but with the help of my partner, family, mentors, labmates, and friends, I was able to finish the marathon and grow into a more independent scientist.
#TeamMassSpec has another newly minted latina doctor!!
It was such a fantastic experience collaborating with @GarciaLabMS for MS analysis of ADPr forms and @MehleLab for studying ADPr during influenza infection!!

The best antidote to burnout is not teaching people coping skills to handle stress. It's redesigning work to reduce stress.
The cure for exhaustion is removing overwhelming demands and the norm of self-sacrifice.
Healthy workplaces value well-being as much as performance.
Spreading the appreciation to ladies I’ve had the pleasure to work/collaborate with!! @RenASRobinson1 @Dr_ChristinaK @na__chung @BumpusLab @HannahNWilkins @drcmwoo @WenqingXu1997

I don't know who needs to hear this but refill your prescription meds asap if you can, especially if you get them from CVS or Walgreens.
The strike starting November 1st will make it even more difficult to get your meds.

Leading and mentoring a group of young scientists:
1. Advocate for them in spaces they can’t advocate for themselves.
2. Teach them to advocate for themselves in spaces they can.
3. Fear ≠ respect
4. Foster their growth based on their goals, not yours.

A must-have conversation: Taking a break during your #PhD.
There’s so much stigma around a leave of absence from your degree. So I put together a "𝗛𝗼𝘄-𝗧𝗼 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲" to make the process a little less cumbersome.
