Worst day since mid February tomorrow and looks pretty terrible from now on. We have had an amazing spring, summer and first half of autumn this year. Will be tough to beat, very grateful for it. Roll on spring 2027
Meet up with @JW_Wx_ over the previous two days. Showed him lots of the Dublin spots that I go to take photos and even did a sunset/sunrise which weren't the greatest but good craic nonetheless.
Since 19th May, there have been more record warm mean CET days than days simply below the 61-90 average, even just by 0.1C. Record warm days = 12, below 61-90 average days = 10
Just about sums up 2026
If we extend further back to 1st February, there have been 29 below average days (11 of which are from May) and 17 record warm days
So if it weren’t for that mid May spell, record warm days and below avg temp days would be level over an 8 month period - absurd
Another month, another spell of exceptional warmth? AI op has been very persistent with this hot southerly pattern in recent days (as have other models but to a lesser extent)
One to keep an eye on - we have seen plenty of times what 2026 can do
The SE & CS England region in 2026 have had their warmest May, June, July and August by mean temperature since records began in 1884.
One of the most impressive stats I’ve ever seen, hard to find the words really.
2026 mean temperature rankings, records since 1659
=6th warmest February
=7th warmest March
=7th warmest April
=7th warmest May
Warmest spring
3rd warmest June
2nd warmest July
=5th warmest August
Warmest summer
The max anomalies for 2026 are jaw dropping. 6 consecutive months >3°C above 61-90 😶
So soon after 2025 aswell which was ridiculous in its own right (not so much anymore)
The CET max yesterday was an extraordinary 35.2C
2nd hottest max on record for any month and 1.8C higher than the previous Aug record on 3rd Aug 1990
(Previous record -> 2026 value)
May: 28.9C -> 31.5C (+2.6)
June: 30.4C -> 32.8C (+2.4)
Aug: 33.4C -> 35.2C (+1.8)
