For families in Guadalupe, Guatemala, turning on a light switch for the first time was a moment years in the making. 💡 Four Jackson EMC linemen joined volunteers from other Georgia electric cooperatives to help bring electricity to the remote village. Along the way, they worked alongside residents, overcame challenging terrain and witnessed firsthand the difference reliable electricity can make. Have you ever wondered what’s the difference between "AUX HEAT" and "EM HEAT" on your thermostat? ♨️ Our residential marketing director Christy Queen answers this question for our member Kellie in Gainesville. The two settings are related, but they serve different purposes. AUX heat comes automatically when the temperatures are especially cold. EM heat is a manual setting intended only for situations when the heat pump is not working properly. To see the full answer and details, click the link: bit.ly/47prAPr. #JacksonEMC

Strong winds are expected across our service area this weekend! ⚠️ According to the @NWSAtlanta, wind gusts of 30–50+ mph could begin as early as overnight Friday, with the strongest winds expected in rain bands. Some areas of north Georgia could experience even higher gusts. Strong winds can bring down trees and power lines, so please keep these safety reminders in mind: ✅ Stay away from downed power lines and always assume they are energized. ✅ Never attempt to move a fallen power line or anything touching it. ✅ Stay clear of fallen trees and debris that may be hiding downed power lines. ✅ Keep your phones and electronic devices charged in case of outages. If you experience a power outage, report it at jacksonemc.com/outage or call 1-800-245-4044. We'll continue monitoring conditions throughout the weekend. Stay safe and weather aware!
