Part 1 of the book over eight chapters analyses the constitutionally corrosive impact of the Belfast Agreement, the Irish Sea border and nationalism’s relentless targeting of unionist/loyalist culture from Drumcree (which is the focus of an entire chapter as a case study on parading) to the more recent attack on the flying of Union flags and bonfires. It further devotes a chapter to illuminating the political agenda behind nationalism’s divisive Irish Language campaign. There is a detailed chapter contribution by Ulster University academic Dr Cillian McGrattan (writing in a personal capacity) who, using legacy as a case study, presents a clinical evidence-based exposure of the ‘greening’ of academia and how a small cohort of nationalists have managed to completely control academic output and skew it to suit nationalism’s political agenda. The book also looks at the structural bias within much of the professional class- in particular within media and the legal profession-and how this has been influenced by a strategic nationalist insurgency to ‘green’ important opinion-forming institutions. Importantly, Part 2 of the book in three chapters provides the tools for fighting back, explaining the basic outline of Human Rights law and Judicial Review, and how this can be used to defend and advance unionist/loyalist rights. Culture War is also now available in a number of local shops, and can be purchased in both paperback and hardback directly via Amazon which is the easiest place to order: amzn.eu/d/02HSqtXG

There’s something inherently incoherent in saying direct rule is bad because they delivered the Irish Sea border, whilst leading a Stormont Executive implementing the Irish Sea border, and worse still by virtue of the implementation giving it legitimacy and removing the only leverage unionism had.

They keep proceeding on the basis that everything they have demanded and got over 30 years is “settled”. Wake up and smell the coffee: we are coming for everything, to rebalance it all.
Not only is it way above his pay grade, it would also be a wholly inappropriate political intervention that would backfire terribly for Michael O’Neill & others foolishly seeking to revisit a settled issue respecting the unique political/identity issues of post-GFA Ireland.

Speaking at the DUP conference, Carla Lockhart welcomed the appointment of a mediator in the Drumcree parade dispute, but claimed the Parades Commission remains a discredited organisation within the unionist community. The Upper Bann MP said a proposed parade of 60 Orange Order members walking the Garvaghy Road silently and without a band is about the balancing of rights, and that a wrong done to the Order over 28 years should be righted.

Unionism wants to remove an Irish nationalist dedicated to destroying the Union from FM position. Shock horror.
The main objective in next year’s Assembly election for the DUP is to remove an Irish Nationalist from holding the First Minister position. That’s what this is all about.
