my thanks to @FierceBadger420 whoever you are. The only tweet I ever had framed.
Tesla quietly dropped the 12V battery from the Semi. 🔌
The 2022–2025 Semi rescue sheet: “12/24V” low voltage, “use 12 volt power to open hood & cab doors.”
The 2026+ Semi: two 48V lithium-ion batteries under the hood. Cybercab: one 48V battery. Cybertruck did it first in 2023.
Why 48V? Same power at a quarter of the current. Thinner wire, less copper, less heat, room for big electric loads. And the Semi now shares parts with Cybertruck and Cybercab: steer-by-wire, the pumps, the compressor, a thermal system “designed at the same time we designed the Cybercab.” Shared parts, shared bus.
How you jump one now:
Semi, 12V: clamps on ring tabs behind the front flap. Pops the hood and unlocks the right door. Touchscreen stays dark.
Semi, 48V: pull the 12V toggles, plug into a blue locking 48V connector. Second blue plug under the hood. Tesla says two 48V sources, left and right, 2+ minutes.
Cybercab: round blue 48V plug behind a bumper flap. “12V and 16V won’t work.”
Cybertruck: two plain posts under the frunk panel, 12–16.5V or 30–50V.
Still 12V somewhere? The trailer gets the standard SAE J560 7-way, so yes, made on board. The 25 kW ePTO runs off the high-voltage pack, not 48V. Blue plug two-way? Every guide shows input only.
Bottom line: tow operators, responders and shops need a 48V jump pack and Tesla’s plug. No published part number yet. Tesla should publish the spec.

This morning I checked what Tesla gives firefighters for the Semi. Its first responder page had one document: a 4-page rescue sheet from 2022 that just says “use large amounts of water.”
Then, at 12:39 pm today, about three hours after my post, a full 37-page Semi Emergency Response Guide hit Tesla’s server. The files were finished Sept 24 but only went public today. Receipts in the graphic.
The new guide is good. Credit where due:
8,000+ gallons of water, applied directly to the battery
“Do not use firefighting foams” (Hayward crews used foam)
Hydrogen fluoride called out, SCBA, protect people downwind
24+ hours to cool, storage 150 ft away (was 50)
My suggestions for Tesla:
1⃣ Fix the old sheet. The web page calls it “2022–2025,” but the PDF still says “From 2022 – Present.” Print it, and two sheets both claim today’s trucks.
2⃣ Give the ~86 older development trucks (2022-2025) the same fire chapter as the 2026 guide.
3⃣ Separate Standard Range (two packs) from Long Range (three). The guide only shows Long Range. Add visual ID markers to easily ID when it counts (length or rear spacer to trailer or .... ).
4⃣ Put a photo of each generation’s light-bar on page one so crews pick the right sheet from the curb. It's an easy ID, maybe there are more in case the front is crushed?
5⃣ List pack energy: 822 kWh Long Range, 548 kWh Standard (per CARB). It's important info for them.
6⃣ Give an evacuation distance for an active fire, and a controlled-burn option.
Hats off to Hayward Fire (@cityofhayward), @CHPHayward and @CaltransD4.)
The responders who were the heroes of this story deserve @tesla_semi team's best work on the guides!

My notes on the Tesla Semi fire:
1⃣ "Development fleet" vehicle with different cells/packs than production
2⃣ Looks like a Frito-Lay Modesto truck ~3yrs in service
3⃣ Appears to be not a crash according to reporting

The seat engineers at @tesla_semi need a raise. That thing’s still standing like the Iron Throne after dragon fire. Impressive!

Super Intelligence: @bot takes a one-line request, researches the best Lego Star Wars sets for young kids, and places the order. No human required.
Actual Idiocy: @elonmusk screenshot's the confirmation and posts it to 242 million followers, with his shipping address, billing address, email, and the last four of his Amex.
I think I can see Skynet's point of view here....
Elon Musk just used Grok Bot to shop for his kids
He asked it to research the most fun Lego Star Wars kits for young kids… and order them
"As easy as that"
No need for searching through endless listings, no comparing reviews or checkout forms
Just one message, and Grok Bot did the research, picked the best options, and placed the order
This is what a real personal assistant actually is, and it's already here right now
This isnt a flex @Teslaconomics its irresponsible - if the airbag goes off you will get seriously hurt. Please don't promote unsafe behavior that @tesla themselves would tell you is in violation of the use of FSD.
I genuinely feel bad for all the people still starting their mornings manually driving, burning gas, sitting in traffic, and stressing over every stop-and-go.
Bc this is how I start mine now.
Fresh coffee in a Tesla cup in my hand.
Starship, something inspiring on the dash.
Tesla FSD handling the entire drive, while I stay attentive.
And my Cybertruck connected the entire time... a Starlink Mini that's integrated to my Cyberbeast is pulling 169 Mbps down, 12 Mbps up, with 36 ms latency while driving.
Bro... think about it for a sec... my car is driving autonomously on FSD, I’m drinking coffee and pouring more with both hands, I’m learning about the most important vehicle ever created by humans in the background, Starlink is giving me fast internet from space on the move, and I’m posting this reality on 𝕏 from the same seat for the world to see.
Just a few years ago this would’ve sounded like some made-up future.
Now it’s just my morning.
I brokered a little Claude OPUS5.5 discussion w/ Grok here after Grok over-estimated the addressable market for the #teslasemi Thanks @scotty529 for the initial prompt. Final estimates: Claude: ~20k/yr Grok: <10k/yr
Thread here, jump in and refine it if you disagree !
This chart needs some corrections and is misleading.
1. Diesel avg. for new trucks is 7.8mpg
2. Nobody pays retail diesel (~$0.60/gal bulk discount). Think Costco fuel program on steroids.
3. It compares pump price to electricity input cost. Charging costs/prices are what matter. And they double the cost shown in blue per mile. There's reasons you can't publically charge at Tesla Car at $0.25 /kWh and they stack in trucking w/MCS similarly.
Here is the corrected view. MCS charging is only winning at the current all-time in the history of USA pricing for diesel. Is it the new normal?
EV can win on trucking in some cases, but accurate data should be the standard for @tesla_semi and others.

EV trucking joke of the day.
Tesla Semi Sales team when the carriers who have already signed orders for the undelivered ~1500 trucks in CA HVIP program join ZET SCALE for the reduced price and lease.
Kind of like seeing the Kirkland Costco price instead of the local store ? Prior to checkout.
THREE BIG TESLA SEMI ORDERS NOW
3,370 trucks announced. Here is what we actually know about each.
WATTEV — 370 SEMIS announced May 5 2026
🔹 Customer: WattEV. It either operates the trucks or leases them out. Well documented either way.
🔹 Where and charging: 300 headed for the Port of Oakland by end of 2027. Its own depots at Bakersfield, San Bernardino and Fresno, megawatt charging installed.
🔹 Use case: port drayage and regional corridors on identified lanes. Subsidy-heavy, ready to deploy once charging and trucks available (although some of the subsidies need more rounds). I walked the $435K estimated CA subsidy per truck stack here: lnkd.in/p/dzF-DYcc
EINRIDE — 500 SEMIS announced August 18 2026
🔹 Customer: Einride. The slide says only "deployed on Einride's Saga AI platform… Financed through 3rd parties." The CEO is more direct with FreightWaves: "the order that we put in the partnership with Tesla in order to have a good supply of vehicles that we can deploy on the platform." Who owns them is still unsaid.
🔹 Where and charging: US focused, five states. About 75 by year end, the rest targeted by end of 2027. No charging named.
🔹 Use case: Amazon freight for 75 at least, and Amazon holds warrants. So Einride is back in the middle of the truck cost. Last time it was, 200 BYD trucks bought to serve Maersk — "the largest-ever order outside Asia" — it ended in litigation with its customer and both suppliers. They are also quite upside down and losing money as the only? publicly traded TAAS showing financials. My read: lnkd.in/p/gDd6sPwk
ZET SCALE — 2,500 SEMIS announced Sept. 22
🔹 Customer: listed as ZET Financial, which issued the purchase order. Clearly not the end customer. A Florida LLC registered in August 2024, whose only listed officer is its founder. No members, no capital partner, no funder disclosed. The program contact on its own site is that founder's email address.
🔹 Where and charging: ten freight hubs, three in California. No charging partner, site or megawatts named. From the FAQ: "Does ZET Financial sell charging equipment? No."
🔹 Use case: demand aggregated across 15+ shippers — Microsoft, PepsiCo, IKEA, Brambles, Red Bull — through a program run by two NGOs, Catalyst Mobility and Smart Freight Centre. Which shipper's freight, on which lanes, is not identified. Neither is any carrier.
WHAT'S MISSING?
There are heavy players behind the ZET SCALE release, and aggregating demand to move price is the right idea.
It still reads incomplete. Almost rushed. The piece missing from the largest order of the three is someone who operates trucks. So is the charging, a delivery schedule and a funder.
SUMMARY
WATTEV is a straight forward CA play waiting for MCS.
Einride, is debatably a sketchy order from a company who is giving shares to Amazon to underpin the deal and doesn't have the cash to pay the BYD settlement.
ZET Scale/ZET Financial: Something is missing about today's announcement. Maybe it clears up who is providing the funds for the PO and who is actually operating the trucks. Neither is clear from the PR.
Also missing so far are "grade A" fleet customers from logistics who actually operate thousands of trucks. Remember all the deposits in 2018?
Tesla opens its Semi factory Thursday with most likely the usual fanfare and showmanship. Perhaps more announcements or review fills the gaps.
I'll be watching. 😁
The "single largest EV truck deployment", i.e. the WattEV order of 370 #Tesla Semi's is not a market confirmation of competitiveness or adoption. It's the largest "Tax-payer subsidized market equalization" you will probably ever see for EV's under Trump.
Here's the math and who to thank. @GavinNewsom has the troll of year by making "I did that" stickers for each of these 300 trucks to be placed.

I have released a full analysis of the #Tesla Semi. This is a detailed report over 3 posts analyzing the cost and potential vs. diesel.
The conclusions:
Tesla potentially can match diesel on a small portion of the US market - my estimation about 20-25k units/year.
This is only in specific regions, not the majority of the US and only in specific use cases (eg. 6 trucks : 1 charger) and mainly on the cheaper Standard range.
I believe in order to open a broader market, Tesla will need to improve the price/lease of the truck and needs to consider charging subsidies (like done on cars).
They have over-estimated the market and will struggle to keep the plant running at the reported capacity of 50k/year.
A great first step, but not nearly the prime time product required to scale.
