"Why would USAID fund socialist or communist movements?" If you take a step back and look at the corporate and financial investments of many DNC megadonors, the answer will make a lot more sense.

Excellent speech by @SecRubio on the importance of the West and It’s ideals
We believe that the West can awaken from its long slumber – and rekindle the fire that was first lit in ancient Greece millennia ago.

This is deeply disturbing: Anthropic secretly invited religious leaders to SF to advise them on AI safety, had them sign NDAs, but then primarily tried to convince them Claude has a soul & moral standing, all while wining & dining them to the max. 1/ tinyurl.com/preview/296b5z8z

Bracero 2.0 is not a theory. I see it on my street. Amazon vans. DoorDash. A Venezuelan who cannot roof worth a damn and still got the job. That is the modern guest-worker program. No contract in the cotton field this time. Just an app, a parole stamp, or a visa, and a boss who likes the price. I was born in Texas. Mexican blood. American in the bones. That is not a flag on a truck. You know who belongs here because you grew up on this dirt. My family does not owe the next wave a welcome just because someone in Washington called it compassion. The first Bracero program ran 1942 to 1964. They brought Mexican men up as “temporary” farm labor. Temporary until the growers got hooked. Temporary until wages for the people already here got leaned on. They told domestic workers—including Mexican-Americans—take less or we hire the import. The rules on paper were a joke. When it finally ended, it was because people like us had been saying the same thing for years: you flood a labor market and the people already standing in it eat the cut. Same machine now. Two pipes. Low-skill pipe: the Venezuelan wave. Parole, CBP One, asylum theater. Texas did not vote to become the overflow tank. Some of those men are running from a wrecked country. Fine. That does not make them carpenters. I have watched the DoorDash guy who barely knows the neighborhood. I have watched the roofing crew where the new guy does not know the work and still draws a check because he is cheaper and he will not say no. That is not “they took jobs nobody wanted.” That is a contractor cutting the rate and handing a nail gun to a man who learned the trade last Tuesday. When the roof leaks, it is our house. High-skill pipe: H-1B. India takes most of those visas. Texas is soaked in it. Austin, Dallas, the body shops. “Specialty occupation.” Then they stay, they hire their own, and the Hispanic kid from here is the outsider in his own metro. Caste does not need a name tag. You feel it when the inner circle is closed and you are the help. Call one group drivers and the other coders if it makes you feel current. The logic is identical. Import a workforce that cannot vote the employer out. Keep them “temporary” on paper. Watch them stay. Watch the neighborhood change. Watch anybody who notices get called hateful. Rome did this too. They hired foederati—foreign soldiers—because it was easier than fielding their own. The men stayed. They wanted land. In 476 Odoacer, already inside the system, deposed the boy emperor and became king of Italy. The West did not fall because a stranger kicked the gate in. It ended when the army stopped being Roman. You do not have to hate a Venezuelan with a hot bag or an Indian on an H-1B to see the pattern. You have to live here. Overpopulate is what a pipeline does when nobody shuts it off. Run out the natives is what it feels like when the drivers, the crews, and the offices fill up with people who were not asked for by the ones who already paid into this place. Being American is not waving a flag. A Texan knows it through and through. This dirt is not a hostel. Citizenship is not a costume for whoever got the app and the stamp. History repeats because the incentives repeat. Growers wanted Braceros. Amazon and the roofers want a man who works cheap and keeps quiet. Tech wants the visa. Politicians want the speech. My family wants the country we already live in.

Under the glow of the Tribute in Light, @JohnOndrasik performed “Superman,” a song that has come to symbolize courage, sacrifice, and the strength to carry on. His performance was part of a night of music and remembrance marking 25 years since 9/11, bringing together artists, survivors, families, and people across the country to reflect on the lives and legacies of those we lost. As the beams illuminated the New York City skyline, Ondrasik joined Cyndi Lauper and Lainey Wilson in a powerful evening of reflection, honoring the sacrifice, resilience, and service that continue to shape how we remember September 11. “9/11 Tribute in Light: Live from Lower Manhattan,” presented by ABC News in partnership with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. Twenty-five years later, the promise to never forget remains as important as ever. Support the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and help carry these stories forward for generations to come. Every gift to The Never Forget Fund will be matched dollar for dollar by @MikeBloomberg, up to $25 million. Support at neverforget.org

I need to make a very PUBLIC announcement on behalf of younger GenXers and older Millennials. If you see someone in their 40s or 50s who seems a little boring now, I need you to understand something... We already got it in. Like...GOT. IT. IN. We are not sitting home on a Friday night because we never knew how to have fun. We are sitting home on a Friday night because we have seen enough. We went to parties in houses that should have been condemned and were almost certainly owned by the local drug dealer. We saw police lights and RAN and not across a nice, flat field. INTO THE WOODS. Do you understand the athleticism required to hurdle uprooted tree roots in platform shoes while simultaneously trying to keep your low-rise jeans from sliding completely off your ass? And somehow...we never spilled the Zima. We never spilled the Boone’s Farm. That was TALENT. We slept on floors in strange houses because the designated driver either never showed up or, in a shocking turn of events, was drunker than everybody else. There was no Uber, Life360 or Find My Friends. There was just somebody named Mike saying, “I know a shortcut.” And we FOLLOWED MIKE. We closed down bars and then decided the night was still young, so we drove to Atlantic City, where we somehow managed to get drunk, sober up, get drunk again, sober up again and then get drunk a THIRD TIME before breakfast. And according to our parents? We were at Michelle’s house. Eating pizza and watching movies. Michelle’s mother unknowingly covered for approximately 17 people every weekend. If there even was a Michelle. We drank things called Purple Passion, Mad Dog 20/20 and whatever somebody mixed inside a giant plastic garbage can. Nobody asked what was in it. You grabbed a red Solo cup and trusted the process. We went to clubs until the lights came on. Do you know the psychological damage of seeing a nightclub with the LIGHTS ON? Nothing good happens after those lights come on. We danced for four straight hours in shoes that permanently altered the structure of our feet. We made entire plans without cell phones...no texts, dropped pins or group chats...just an extremely questionable sense of direction. We rode in cars with 11 people when the vehicle legally seated five. Someone was always sitting on someone. Someone was always in the hatchback. And there was always one friend yelling, “DUCK!” when we passed a cop. So yes...now we like being home. We like sweatpants. We like cancelling plans. We like saying, “That sounds fun!” with absolutely no intention of attending. We like restaurants at 5:30 because we can get a good table. We like being home by 8:17. And if someone texts at 9:30 PM and says, “What are you doing?” Sleeping...we are sleeping. Because this is not boring my friends...this is retirement. We already played, partied and danced on the bar. We already ran from the cops through a wooded area dressed like a Spice Girl. We have stories that cannot be posted because there are still people with careers, marriages and reputations to protect. And thank GOD there were no camera phones. So kids, when you look at your Gen X and older Millennial parents sitting peacefully on the couch watching Dateline at 8 PM and think: “God, you guys are boring.” Sweetheart...oh sweetheart. You are looking at retired legends. Put some respect on our names. We're probably the reason Life360 was invented. xoxoxo (posted from someone else on FakeBook) 🤣 #genx #oldandtired

Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead. You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement. I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible. But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier. Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want. Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well. So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it. If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.

I feel that the 25th anniversary of 9/11 has caused a critical mass of Americans to reach an inflection point on their understanding of that event. We are starting to realize that we lost the Global War on Terror. We did not lose it on military grounds. We lost it on spiritual grounds. Domestically we are succumbing to the goals of Sharia and jihad, which was EXACTLY what the 9/11 terrorists sought to bring about with their heinous actions. Now that more and more people are seeing this, we can combat it--not with tanks and bombs and rifles alone, but with our words, voices and votes. We must actively combat the Islamification of America. Sharia and jihad are wholly incompatible with the Constitution. Islam is a political movement hiding beneath the cover of freedom of religion. When a "religion" itself is not free, it is no longer a religion and no longer enjoys the protections the Constitution affords. Spread the word.
