Ever wondered why some heavy smokers never develop lung cancer, even in old age, while others do at a young age?

These clinically relevant phenotypes likely model extreme sensitivity and resistance to tobacco's carcinogenic effects, offering valuable insights
We have characterized for the first time these distinct phenotypes using #WholeExomeSequencing and #machinelearning
Validated genes linked to cancer development: candidate oncogenes, tumor-suppressors, DNA repair, HLA-mediated antigen presentation and regulation of proliferation, apoptosis, inflammation and immune response
Our approach holds promise for improving assessment of lung cancer risk and may pave the way for innovative preventive and therapeutic strategies.
