It was a pleasure and privilege to attend @BedfordIndComm Diwali Festival of Lights this evening.
The Diwali message of light over dark; hope over hate; and the importance of community first is very powerful.
Today, we should celebrate and commit to the spirit of Diwali.
A big thank you to @BedfordIndComm for organising this community event.

Please join me at @HoughtonRegisTC to discuss local policing, community safety, and what we can do to make Houghton Regis feel safer for everyone 👇
On 11 November, I’d like to hear your views on what it is like to live, work or spend time in Houghton Regis, and what our police service can do to make the town safer for everyone.
Please share this with anyone who may welcome the chance to have an open and honest conversation about local policing.

Godd morning, Ian @longitch & thank you, as always. Here's a lovely photo of Elwin Hawthorne (left), Phyllis Bray the John Cooper & finally, Brynhild Parker which was most likely taken in 1931, judging by the fact that Bryn is holding "Saloon Bar" which was shown that year.
Having been born in Colchester and spending my childhood in North East Essex I know Chappell and its viaduct
well.
This paining, “Essex Landscape, Early Morning” by Walter Steggles depicts conditions similar to this morning’s misty weather.
Good morning, John @JohnTizard & thank you, as always. As you say, the misty mornings are upon us so here's "Essex Landscape, Early Morning" by Walter Steggles from 1938. It depicts a scene near the Chappel Viaduct near Colchester #WalterSteggles #EastLondonGroup #SaturdayMorning

Good morning, Alan.
On this misty autumn Saturday morning your post with Brynhild Parker’s “Interior” brings warmth, light, and pleasure.
Thank you, as ever, for posting this painting today and every Saturday.
It is the last #SaturdayMorning of October already: where did the last month go?! Here's our usual start to the day & week-end: "Interior" by Brynhild Parker from 1930. #BrynhildParker #EastLondonGroup

I wonder how the Christa Pike botched execution will be seen years from now? I suspect it will be emblematic of a time when an entire nation seems to have lost its moral compass

The manosphere and misogyny should be tackled in many ways.
This proposal to adopt a public health approach is interesting and should be explored nationally and locally.

Outsourcing public services costs billions, with much going to private profits.
So I welcome the announcement of the First Secretary of State of a dedicated Insourcing Unit.
I urged the Transport Secretary to develop an insourcing strategy, across the sector.
Blakeney is one of the most attractive places in Norfolk, East Anglia and England.
I look forward to my next visit.
