MLB is proposing returning to a 154-game Regular Season and best-of-seven Division Series
Schedule Changes Beginning in 2029, MLB proposes return to 154-game season and 7-game division series as part of salary cap and floor system. 154-Game Regular Season - Would return to 154-game schedule with a standard off day every week. Which Enables Best-Of-7 Division Series - Would expand the Division Series from best-of-five to best-of-seven, potentially adding up to 8 more Postseason games. More Prime Time Postseason Games - Would add additional off days in Postseason to reduce weekday daytime Postseason games, while giving pitchers extra rest.
