Accusing Puente of gaslighting while your own chart is out by a factor of eight. He has to answer to parliament. You only answer to a stock photo of a helicopter.
Exceptional too is the reaction by Spain's Transport Minister @oscar_puente_ today
Puente maintains that the Spanish rail network is safe: "There are systems, rules, and protocols in place. Mistakes can happen, but I want to emphasize that our railways are just as safe as those in neighboring countries."
The level of gaslighting by politicians to always maintain their own interests over the wellbeing of their country is why nobody trusts politicians anymore
Pieter’s chart says a Spanish train trip is 1 in 300,000. Same as skydiving.
For that to work, Spain would need about 34.5m train trips a year. Renfe did 277m in the first half of 2025 alone.
So he’s out by a factor of eight. He got skydiving wrong too: USPA’s 2025 figure is 1 in 217,000.
The only thing this chart has in common with skydiving is no visible means of support. nitter.cf/levelsio/status/211539…
At least 85 people this year died from Spanish train accidents, and likely it will grow to 100 at the end of this day
Very tragic and this makes Spanish trains one of the most dangerous modes of transport now
~100x more dangerous than flying commercial
~40x more dangerous than non-Spanish trains
And every trip is nopw as dangerous as jumping from a plane and skydiving
Two highly deadly train accidents in one year, that's so extreme and unlikely that it makes it at as dangerous as flying one of the most deadly airlines in the world, the Nepalese Yeti Airlines that keeps crashing due to the mountainous terrain
Pretty exceptional in a bad way

Pieter Levels (@levelsio) has a habit of confidently misreading data and treating anecdotes as evidence 🧵👇
This is what happens when you train your AI and your following base with skewed world views, dodgy studies and huge biases: they amplify your crooked narrative.

Why can´t Europe produce companies that make a $80.7 billion net loss in six months?
A new Anthropic S-1 leak has dropped. 👀
According to a draft seen by the Wall Street Journal, Anthropic recorded an $80.7 billion net loss for the first half of this year. Last year, it saw a net loss of $13 billion during the same period.
The company continues to signal it's going to spend a lot more on compute. Anthropic's computing agreements will cost around $450 billion over the next seven to ten years.

A legacy far bigger than football. 🩵
Man City are guilty on almost all of 114 charges. The Prime Minister would be ‘really concerned to lose’ the owners.
So I checked how close the rest of Westminster is.
45 MPs. 83 links
Arsenal definitely to blame for 114
Arsenal fans are completely ignoring that their own manager has some involvement with the 114 charges at man City.. 👀
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Mikel Arteta was an assistant coach at Manchester City from 2016-2019 with no involvement in club finances or the Premier League charges against the club for sham sponsorship contracts and misstated accounts.

🚨 | BREAKING: Etihad Airways is considering LEGAL ACTION against the Premier League after the Commission’s findings involving #ManCity sponsorships.
Etihad “categorically rejects” any suggestion it was involved in improper commercial arrangements, says the Premier League NEVER engaged with the airline or gave it a right of reply, and is now seeking legal advice on its options and recourse.
“We stand with the Club, its supporters and our wider Etihad community.”

Well @ZeroGpt seems pretty certain the video of Man City City CEO Soriano thinks his video is AI. I think it's pretty obvious anyway, Just try to and watch the video in full and not blink - as he doesnt.

🚨List of everything Manchester city owners have done for Manchester and England.
- Bought Manchester City in 2008 and invested heavily in East Manchester’s regeneration.
- Invested hundreds of millions into the Etihad Campus and surrounding East Manchester.
- Built the £200m City Football Academy on around 80 acres of former industrial land.
Remediated contaminated former industrial land and transformed it into a major sports, education and community campus.
- Created thousands of construction and employment opportunities, with significant work going to local and North West businesses.
-Built facilities supporting Manchester City’s men’s and women’s teams, academy and community programmes.
- Helped bring Connell Co-op College to the Etihad Campus, providing education for local young people.
-Contributed £3m towards public swimming facilities at East Manchester Leisure Centre.
Helped create the Beswick Hub, bringing together sport, education, health and community facilities.
- Supported the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance, providing health and sports-science services beyond professional football.
-Invested in the expansion of the Etihad Stadium and continued development of the surrounding campus.
- Invested alongside partners in Co-op Live, creating a major new 23,500-capacity entertainment arena in East Manchester.
Continued investing in the wider Etihad Stadium expansion and entertainment district, representing hundreds of millions in additional investment.
-Supported City in the Community programmes helping thousands of Manchester residents through football, education, health and employability initiatives.
-Funded community football and multi-sport pitch improvements across Greater Manchester.
-Provided free football opportunities for young people through City Kicks.
-Supported programmes helping young people at risk of serious youth violence.
Supported young patients and families at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.
-Created education and employability opportunities for young people through City in the Community.
-Used the Etihad Campus during COVID-19 to support NHS workers, nursing training, testing and vaccination efforts.
-Worked with Manchester City Council on employment initiatives, including jobs fairs connecting local people with employers.
Supported elite and community sport by making facilities available to athletes and sporting organisations.
-Invested in environmental improvements, biodiversity and green-space projects around the Etihad Campus.
-Donated surplus equipment and furniture from the club to community organisations in Manchester.
-And perhaps one of the most symbolic acts: Sheikh Mansour bought the 1904 FA Cup — Manchester City’s first FA Cup and the oldest surviving FA Cup trophy — at auction and arranged for it to remain on display at the National Football Museum in Manchester.
The overall result has been a transformation of the Etihad area into a major hub combining football, education, health, entertainment, employment and community facilities.
Real victims in all this are Pep, City owners and Ed Sheeran
I want every single @ManCity fan to know I am here; more than ever. I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters.
Let me be clear: we will get through this together.
I love you all 🩵
