I tweet a lot about Peyton Manning. It's probably easy to miss some of the tweets and threads, so I've compiled a number of them into one thread here for convenience:

This committee spent 2 days in a hotel ballroom with every stat known to man, every ounce of game film at their fingertips and still came out with a ranking that made the AP voters look like geniuses. Thankfully they took their hats off tho.

There are other initial rankings that have been worse in the CFP era, but this one is probably the most nonsensical. They're just bad.

we need to start quizzing the cfp selection committee to see if they are actually watching football

Hunter Yurachek is the Arkansas athletic director. Notre Dame embarrassed Arkansas 56-13 last year, their worst loss since 2020. It led to them firing their coach. Since becoming CFP chair, the committee’s perception of ND has been RADICALLY different. There’s obvious bias.
CFP chair Hunter Yurachek: "They are a very good football team. But when you look at Notre Dame's schedule and the wins they have vs. the teams that are ahead of them, they don't have that signature win right now. They lost in their only Top-25 matchup at BYU. Their next-best-win is on a neutral site against Wisconsin. They've got a great opportunity in front of them this weekend at home vs. Miami to get that signature win that I think they need to move up in the rankings."

The committee banged Notre Dame for a lack of signature wins (or win, singular) No. 4 Indiana's wins: North Texas Howard Western Kentucky Northwestern (29-23) Rutgers Nebraska (20-17) Michigan (13-6 in OT) Minnesota (23-16 in OT)

As long as this idiot is the CFP chair common sense is out the window, but… The issue isn’t knocking ND for no signature wins. It’s that the criteria is wildly inconsistently applied. There’s zero justification for IU at 4 and ND at 11, for instance.
CFP chair Hunter Yurachek on Notre Dame: “They don’t have that signature win.”

Expanding to 24 teams does not solve the problem of a wildly inconsistent selection committee.

We have seen some terrible CFP rankings over the years, but this set is particularly insane and inconsistent.

It would be hard to come up with a dumber ranking of teams if you tried.
The first CFP rankings: 1. Miami 2. UGA 3. Utah 4. IU 5. Bama 6. Ken 7. Texas 8. UCLA 9. BYU 10. Ole Miss 11. ND 12. Ohio St 13. Tenn 14. LSU 15. TTech 16. Wake 17. Houston 18. Mizz 19. Iowa 20. USC 21. S.Car 22. Arizona 23. Oregon 24. Fla. 25. Boise

And guess who controls both the SEC TV rights and the CFP TV rights? Oh, right, it’s the same company!
The SEC spent its spring meeting berating the CFP staff over strength of schedule and those metrics. That's different than the selection committee, but the message got through.

The college football selection committee has always been biased and college football won’t be fixed until the selection committee is. They’re a total joke.

The next Colts GM owes Ed Dodds a big hug for this. Removes one potential headache this offseason - at a very reasonable price. I was definitely thinking in the $22-23M range. Savvy move by Ade, who is going to hit FA again in his prime, on a team who should be ready to compete.
The Colts and DT Adetomiwa Adebawore agreed to terms on a two-year, $35 million extension that includes a $13M signing bonus and $22.5M in new money through 2027. Still only 25, Adebawore has a chance to get back to the market again as he enters his prime. The deal was negotiated by @kenny_zuckerman of @prioritysports

It would be a very good thing if more people started calling out ESPN's bias and influence on the state of college football.
Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz sounds off on the College Football Playoff rankings show and ESPN: “It’s great for TV, right? ESPN’s loving it, I’m sure. … They do seem to promote the sports they carry. You couldn’t find anything on the World Series. … Then I was like FOX, ESPN — oh yeah. … We [don’t play] on ESPN so we probably won’t make the rankings.”

Nice to see they’re reminding everyone how incredibly biased the selection committee is.
They’ve left their hats at the door and the first CFP Selection Committee Meeting of the season is officially underway! 🏆 #CFP

Gonna save you time on Colts discourse rest of (more than half of...) season: Discuss players who are being realistically evaluated for the rebuild: Adebawore, Walley, Allen, Farmer, Travis, Haulcy etc. Discuss others at your own peril.
