To the Zoomer, the top two seem as quaint as "werewolf" and "vampire" seem to the millennial.
Horror seems silly if you don't know the real fear it's representing. The problems Zoomers face are simulacrum and alienation.

One of these days it's gonna come out that he's been hiding an alzheimer's diagnosis and it'll be so obvious to everybody in retrospect. But look at the Republicans unconditionally supporting this absolute sociopath and the dems hiding in the corner. Fuck everybody not fighting this regime with every ounce of their being. IMPEACH.

Game designers figured this out decades ago and it cost millions in failed launches.
Will Wright built SimCity with a fully accurate traffic simulation. Testers hated it. The cars behaved realistically, which meant nobody could build a functioning city because real traffic is an unsolvable nightmare. He had to make the simulation dumber before the game became fun.
The tension is permanent: the more accurately you model a system, the more it punishes the participant. Real medieval economies kept 90% of the population in subsistence farming. A historically accurate fantasy world doesn't produce heroes. It produces serfs.
Tolkien solved this by making his economy deliberately vague. No one knows what a gold coin buys in Gondor. That ambiguity is a design choice, not a shortcut.
The Reddit post is funny. The lesson underneath it is one of the hardest problems in simulation design: fidelity and fun are opposing forces, and you have to pick which one wins.

The new academic wealth gap isn't your university.
It's not even your advisor's connections.
It's who knows Claude can turn 50+ research papers into a thesis chapter in 3 hours and who's still manually coding qualitative data.
I just watched a sociology PhD skip 8 weeks of analysis.

The only time I think AI helps is when a job application asks a stupid HR-coded question you don’t know how to answer. “How do you contribute to teamwork?” AI will read your CV and give you a boring soulless corporate slop of an answer for you to use, which is all you need it for

“I don’t owe anybody anything!” Actually we are perhaps nothing but dizzyingly intricate webs of obligations to other beings and ourselves. The sheer weight of our obligations is all that keeps us from floating away into space. We can never do enough but we must try.

This is even more significant when you have children. I used to be much less sentimental about the furniture or decor we brought into our home. But then I began to see these things through the eyes of our children. The coffee table is no longer just a coffee table. The cup or the pot is no longer a cup or pot. The cozy corner in the room is a space enhanced with life and wonder. These practical things once used to make the home more beautiful and functional become the context for core experiences. The way they are utilized supersedes their intended purpose. The house becomes their home and all that. The practical becomes inhabited with comfort and wonder.

No one will hire me for entry level jobs because I’m “too qualified” and no one will hire me for mid level jobs because the majority of my qualifications are in academia. I would be so happy to take an entry level job and build up my skills if someone just gave me a chance
While not fully accurate the general premise that there must be real consequences for government and corporate malfeasance is, in my opinion, unquestionable.
