October is Pitbull Awareness Month ~ a reminder of how loving and loyal these dogs can be. One year ago this month my pittie was tied to a train station in Harlem and left for dead. Today she’s sunning by the pool and still brings me a toy every time she sees me. Brookie (you might remember her as NYCACC’s Pond as seen in the video below) is living proof that speaking up matters. The January outcry by X advocates over her kill command is how I found her. I wasn’t even looking for a dog… and she’s the most loving dog I’ve ever had. Thank you @miraclelnresq for letting me foster and adopt her ❤️ Thinking about fostering or adopting an NYCACC dog? Reach out to @MorgFairsdogs or @cathypolicky. They make it easy. 🐶 #PitbullAwarenessMonth #AdoptDontShop

#FosterFriday Haribo (#267618)  3 yrs | 115 lbs | Queens ACC  🔗 nycacc.app/browse/267618  #RescueOnly 🎯 Massive sweet baby with stunning blue eyes. He carries his plush toys everywhere and crushes the agility ramp. Originally here 3 years ago as a puppy named Ghost and was adopted. The person who adopted him rehomed him a few days ago, and that individual brought him here. #RescueOnly because he gets overstimulated in the shelter and bites his leash when stressed. This gentle giant will be on the kill list in a few days. He needs a #foster and #pledges to make it out alive. Foster free (VA–ME) — DM @CathyPolicky Can’t foster? Please share + pledge to save this big baby’s life! #Foster #Pledge4Rescue #NYCACC
