Tons of excitement in southern Brooklyn as Larry He, chief of staff of Assembly Member William Colton, declares victory against Republican state Sen. Steve Chan.
This was a big race for Democrats, possibly clinching them a super majority in the state Senate.
Novakhov held on by a thread in 2024 and lost by more than 5,000 votes tonight.
Democrat Joey Cohen-Saban defeated Republican incumbent Michael Novakhov in the race for Brooklyn’s 45th Assembly District Tuesday night, flipping a seat he came within 232 votes of winning in 2024. brooklynpaper.com/joey-cohen…

We also made headlines in the @RedHookStar ! Thanks to this hyperlocal paper for detailing how much we all care about our work and why reporters behind the many Schneps outlets like amNY, BX Times, LI Press, QNS, need to have a say in their direction

Hey everyone, I discovered that copyright infringers are already hard at work selling unauthorized, unlicensed physical prints of my original photograph featuring New York City’s hometown basketball team players holding a trophy at the New York City Hall celebration.
The ONLY place to buy the original work is via my SmugMug site. I have never permitted any other page to sell, distribute, or profit from my work. My copyright lawyer has been notified and is officially handling the matter.
In the meantime, please support independent creators and do not purchase counterfeit prints. If you see their active ads, please report them for Intellectual Property Infringement.
The legitimate link to purchase my work is pinned at the top of my profile. On behalf of myself and my colleagues, thank you for looking out for photographers and creatives. 🗽🏀

Schneps reporters do crucial work covering our neighborhoods and holding power to account.
Many of the journalists who document the challenges New Yorkers face are struggling to afford life here themselves.
I am proud to stand in solidarity with the unionized Schneps reporters as they organize for a livable wage, affordable health care, and the dignity every worker deserves.
WE'RE UNIONIZING! Proud of my hard-working colleagues who would now appreciate your support as we ask our publishers to voluntarily recognize us - you can help out by signing this petition actionnetwork.org/petitions/…

Yes! @BrooklynPaper reporters are out in the field every single day telling our borough’s story, they deserve the stability and dignity that only unionization can deliver. ✊🏾✊🏾
So excited and proud to stand with my colleagues to demand better for ourselves and our readers. Support us in our ask for voluntary recognition! actionnetwork.org/petitions/…

YES I am so happy reporters at @brooklynpaper, where I started out, are unionizing ✊🏻 @SchnepsUnion
$30K as a full-time reporter wasn’t sustainable in 2019, and $45K ain’t now. This is why talent leaves to pursue other opportunities rather than stay & commit to local reporting.

Flurries were observed in Central Park today making this the first snowfall of the season for Central Park. The snowfall is too light to be measurable, making it only a trace of snow. You can see snow showers in the distance moments ago from the Top of the Rock @EarthCam
