Advertising with ethnic and community media is not outreach, and it is not charity. It is economic development. These are small businesses reaching New Yorkers in more than forty languages, and many are certifiable as minority businesses in NYC.
That’s Mazin, the new head of the Mayor’s Office of Ethnic and Community Media, and a budding superstar. Right now he is testifying before the City Council in a hearing about local law 83, which has to do with advertising in such media. I’ll be testifying myself. @harrysiegel
