💔 IN MEMORY OF JESSE ADAMS — A TRUE HERO FOR ANIMALS 💔
It is with enormous sadness that we have learned of the tragic death of Jesse Adams, founder of RainCoast Dog Rescue Society in Canada, who lost his life while carrying out an animal rescue mission in one of the most dangerous areas of Ukraine.
Jesse dedicated his life to saving animals, even when it meant putting his own life at risk.
We first came to know Jesse in 2021, when Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. Jesse and RainCoast were among the extraordinary organisations that came together to assist KSAR with the evacuation of 285 cats and dogs, helping many find loving forever homes.
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Jesse travelled to the border to help fleeing families and their pets, providing veterinary care, supplies and assistance getting animals to safety.
He returned repeatedly, undertaking increasingly dangerous missions.
Most recently, Jesse worked alongside Animal Rescue Kharkiv, rescuing hundreds of animals from devastated frontline communities under constant threat from drones, missiles and artillery.
These were extraordinary acts of compassion and courage in the face of unimaginable danger.
Jesse knew the risks. He knew every mission could be his last. Yet he continued because he believed animals caught in conflict deserved protection just as much as those living in peace.
Those of us working in animal rescue in conflict zones understand and accept these risks. But few possess the courage to repeatedly travel towards danger when everyone else is trying to escape it.
Jesse was one of those very special people.
His death is a devastating loss to his family, friends, RainCoast and the international animal rescue community.
Our hearts go out to everyone who knew and loved him, particularly the Ukrainian rescuers who worked alongside him.
His legacy lives on in every animal he saved and every rescuer he inspired.
Rest in peace, Jesse. The world has lost an extraordinary human being, and the animals have lost a true champion. 🐾💔
With love and deepest respect,
Louise and everyone at War Paws

WATCH: 10% of BC families have access to $10 a day child care. David Eby is among them. Earlier this year, his government 'paused' expansion of the program. A program his predecessor promised to make universal.

A question from @jarmstrongbc about David Eby’s kids benefiting from a $10/day daycare prompts yet another response - now, he wouldn’t be expected to yank his kids out of daycare b/c it switched over to the $10/day model but it clearly highlights serious unequal access issues.
STATEMENT FROM BC NDP LEADER DAVID EBY:
"Securing a deal with the Prime Minister, BC and Ottawa will work together to reach a newly negotiated childcare funding agreement with a December 1st deadline. My family has benefited from a wonderful local childcare centre and I will keep fighting so that every family benefits from quality childcare across our province.
A couple of years ago, the childcare centre that one of our children was attending was designated as a $10/day site. When that occurred, we chose as a family to make a donation to that excellent facility. We felt that we did not need that discount and we wanted to make sure that the childcare centre could provide other supports for families in the community.
We will be making a similar donation to the childcare centre for our youngest child who attends the same facility."

Wrong. The $10aDay child care plan was never designed to be a targeted program just for struggling parents. It is meant to be a universal program that all families can access in their community, just like Kindergarten.
Wealthy NDP using their own $10/day daycare that was meant to help struggling parents.
If the NDP Premier identifies as a “struggling” parent, BC unaffordability is worse than I thought nitter.cf/jarmstrongbc/status/21…

B.C. Child Care is in Crisis and it Needs to be an Election Issue. Again @bcndp @Conservative_BC @BCGreens #ChildCareBC
While it’s evident this is an election revelation- we would love to know how the @BCConservCaucus would support childcare

Whoa! Thanksgiving weekend and BC elections could drive cases up even further. Please take good care. If you’re gathering this weekend, open windows and doors, use a hepa filter, wear a mask in busy places like churches and grocery stores, stay home if sick, get vaxxed when able!
.@Emily_Lowan interested in some clarity on #BCchildcare. We know the importance of childcare in the economy- families are in need of a strong plan to grow this economy and support children. We have questions…..

Welcome news that BC’s share of new federal childcare funding is $630 million. We look forward to knowing the BC specifics on $10aDay progress 10aday.ca/prosperity_agreeme…
Canada is investing in school food programs — worth celebrating. But BC’s childcare sector has been losing food programs for years. Food is quality care and food security. Universal food programs are an unrecognised quality piece that BC’s funding model doesn’t support. #0-5gap
Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow and succeed — on a full stomach. 🍎
Today we marked a milestone: provinces and territories have signed their 2-year National School Food Program action plans. That means federal and provincial funding to 10,000+ schools-almost 80% of schools in Canada - now offering food programs. That’s up to 400,000 fewer kids learning on an empty stomach, and around $800 a year in grocery savings for families.
