I hope all the little girls across Illinois and the country see last night’s results and know that they, too, belong in the rooms where policy is being made. @TammyDuckworth and I can’t wait to represent you.

Need to dodge bullets in the Chicago SAFE-T act warzone to get my 3rd abortion this week and then change my gender again. Is this what @pupsandpinot thinks real life is like? I blame @Kellywtp and @magyardemon

ICE HSI agent Kent Blacklidge who racially profiled and tackled US citizen Leo Venegas while trespassing at his worksite (the first of Leo's three illegal detainments) was just arrested for rape and child sex crimes. The agent's duties had included child sex investigations.
ICE wrestled Alabama worker to the ground & detain him for hours—he is a U.S. citizen. Young man was begging & shouting, "I am a U.S. citizen"—but that didn't stop ICE agents from dragging him off to a detention center. Not following due process hurts us all—and our economy. His family said that ICE agents did release him after he was finally given the opportunity to prove he was a U.S. citizen—but only after many hours. This construction site in Foley, Alabama was forced to shut down for at least the day. How many other businesses were affected? #DemVoice1 #wtpBLUE #DemsUnited

An incoming House Republican watching the results last night and calling to pardon those convicted of sex crimes is an odd choice. But sure - respect that he's staying true to the @GOP brand.
This guy Anthony Constantino (R) narrowly pulls out a win in Upstate NY House district... and uses his victory speech to call for a pardon of Diddy. RESPECT

Meet Annautaq, an orphaned Pacific walrus calf whose unexpected discovery during USGS research in Alaska saved his life. Last month, USGS biologist Tony Fischbach and Violet Anniskett, an Illisavik College intern, were surveying a beach after a storm moved a walrus herd from the area. While sampling carcasses for a study on harmful algal toxin levels in Pacific walruses, Violet discovered a live, orphaned calf hiding between two adult carcasses. With approval from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the local Iñupiaq community, the pair cared for the calf for nearly four days. They dispersed the gulls scavenging him, walked a half mile to the nearest shelter (an abandoned building open to the elements), and protected him from polar bears until the storm passed and a local rescue team could boat him across the lagoon. From there, Alaska Sea Life Center (ASLC) vet techs crated him onto a small plane to rehabilitation. Violet joined the journey to ease his transition. Violet grew up near walrus herds and first joined USGS surveys on a high school class field trip. This September, she joined the USGS team to gain professional experience working with the wildlife central to Iñupiaq culture. Her community agreed to have the orphan saved with the condition that they name him to preserve their connection to him. Violet chose Annautaq, an Iñupiaq word meaning axe, in honor of her father’s Iñupiaq name. USGS scientists monitor Pacific walrus populations in support of Marine Mammal Protection Act reporting and management requirements. This work depends on partnerships with Alaska Native communities, whose generational knowledge shapes how we understand and protect these animals. After rehabilitation at the ASFC, Annautaq has moved to his long-term home, where he will serve as a species ambassador, helping people learn about walruses and their connection to Alaska's people and changing marine environments. All work was conducted under USFWS permit MA3376D. 📷1: Violet and Annautaq. 📷2: Annautaq gazes out the shelter window. 📷3: Tony and Annautaq. 📷4: Violet resting with Annautaq. Obama responds to the Cheesecake Factory controversy: Let me get this on the record. I am the father of two daughters. Do you think I could have survived their childhood without going to the Cheesecake Factory? That was my jam. The interesting thing about the administration's response is they did not dispute what I said about them being directly responsible for rising prices. I accused this administration, based on the facts, of engaging in unprecedented levels of corruption. They didn't say anything about that. The president wasn't even mad about the Saddam Hussein comparison. That part didn't bother him. But he was very upset about the Cheesecake Factory comments. He took great umbrage!

Dolores Huerta was a fearless labor leader and a lifelong champion of working people. Sí, se puede became a rallying cry for hope, solidarity, and respect — a legacy that lives on in everyone who stands up for their community and keeps up the fight. May her memory be a blessing.

Trump admitted he blocked energy funding to punish blue states he lost in 2024, including $586 million for Illinois. Courts ruled it illegal. He's still blocking the money. Bipartisan permitting reform won't work if Trump ignores the law. He must reinstate the grants first.
