Africa’s crypto infrastructure stack is getting more institutional.
@coinbase has partnered with Egyptian-founded startup @KemetTrading to expand access to its institutional crypto trading products, another sign that African-built infrastructure is moving deeper into global markets.
Kemet, which has reportedly processed over $30 billion in institutional trading volume in just two years, is building the backend systems that large financial firms need to trade digital assets at scale. The platform consolidates execution, order management, and risk monitoring into a single institutional-grade system.
The partnership also gives institutions streamlined access to Coinbase’s exchange, derivatives platform, international exchange, and Deribit through one interface, while Coinbase Ventures joins as an investor.
As institutional demand for crypto derivatives grows globally, infrastructure, not adoption, is becoming the real differentiator.
Africa is no longer just participating in digital assets; it’s helping build the rails behind them.
