If “considering Vedas as the Supreme authority” is the definition to go by, then Hinduism will be a minority religion in this country. What percentage of “Hindus” can even name all four Vedas? Considering them supreme authority is a question for another day. Hindu religious scriptures were written by wise seers which contain many metaphysical truths applicable across time and space. However, there is enough within scriptures which never had its utility or has become redundant by now. This needs to be discarded. Hence, any literal interpretation of scriptures is a fool’s errand.

I know you are being sarcastic. This generation does not realise that the Congress of old is what the BJP aspires to become, yet it is not even a fraction of the former. Congress practised a far more intelligent, robust, sinister and effective form of Hindu majoritarianism.. the entire Hindu majoritarian character of the Indian state, constitution, administration, legislation and judiciary, owes almost all to Congress. Even the ideal of Ram Rajya (‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’) it the legacy of Congress. After 1947's transfer of power, the curtailment of Muslim identity (including Urdu), suppression of Muslim representation in govt jobs (eg: police, army, and civil servants) and political sphere became among the early priorities of the Congress.
