Seven sheet piles were removed at Gallows Reach, earlier this year, to allow the Big Pipe to be extracted.
After a lot of hammerin', prisin' and fettlin', they're now lined up and ready to go back where they belong.
Well done team!
Another 6m concrete pad was cast at Gallows Reach this week, bringing our team ever closer to the lift bridge. 👍
They also tackled a completely different challenge this week, with great results. We'll share more tomorrow... 👀

Another week at Gallows Reach and another base pad dug out and concrete cast. 🥳
The team has also backfilled and graded the sides, over the route of the surface water drainage from the adjacent garages and car park. It's now ready for nature to take the over again.

It was the era of canal abandonments. Negelected over 2 world wars and with falling commercial use, they were left to silt up. The many restoration projects these days like @LHCRT1 are trying to bring them back.

Our canals have long since been a lovely way to experience and observe the quaint magnificence of England.
Delighted to welcome visitors from Lichfield’s twin towns, Limburg an der Lahn and Sainte‑Foy‑lès‑Lyon, for a canal tour.
Guests heard about restoration, wildlife improvements and future plans, and were amazed it’s all volunteer-led.

Bund Mk II - built by hand with dumpy bags and scaffolding poles.
Then we pumped out the water, dug out the waterlogged soil and placed it behind the sheet piling, with the remaining spoil spread across the site to help it dry out. 👏
