"the tragedy is that we finally have the tools to make the software we actually want, and instead we’re making the software we already have."
on the vibecoded adobe suite
i think both the effort and the expectations are completely misplaced. illustrator is 39 years old, photoshop 36. people really did expect to catch up in two weeks.
attacking the full suite makes no sense. if you’ve been using photoshop, indesign, or illustrator for 20 years, you’d have opinions. you’d notice even the smallest inconveniences and have ideas for how to improve your workflows. with ai, you’re finally in a position to make bespoke software that serves you perfectly and brings you joy.
look at aseprite, which specializes in pixel art. losslesscut, which does one thing premiere makes unnecessarily complicated. photopea, which started as a browser-based psd viewer and grew into a serious editor over 14 years. figma, which rethought design around collaboration.
each of these projects has a point of view. each understands something about how people actually work.
instead, we get seven adobe-shaped applications, recreating the surface without understanding what led to the underlying decisions. not an alternative vision for creative software, just a checklist of features to imitate.
it’s slopware, and it trivializes decades of genuine attempts to free people from adobe.
the tragedy is that we finally have the tools to make the software we actually want, and instead we’re making the software we already have.
and if you needed any more evidence that this was never about making better software, having finished 40 years of adobe development in two weeks, he’s now moving on to microsoft office.
That's why we need a more powerful Apple TV today
Diablo II: Resurrected on iPhone/iPad, thanks to @happyjoejiang
I’ve been hooked for the past week, playing (testing 😂) nonstop on my iPad.
I was thinking we could showcase it at BlizzCon and convince Blizzard to release an official mobile version. 😂😂😂

I love my italian designed espresso machine because it only has like 5 main parts, however it is italian made so every one of those parts has a serious manufacturing defect
Advices for young programmers.
Replying to @GergelyOrosz
Accept the present and the future. Embrace it. Have an evidence based career where you try doing meaningful things. Create open source software that does not exist currently since in the past it required teams of people and there were not the economic incentives but now with AI it is possible for individuals to do it.

My recommendation if you’ve never played WoW:
Take 3 months of your life. Go all in, 16 hours a day. Experience 40-man raiding guilds. Beat the content. Then uninstall and quit forever.
It will change your life.

Quick Superlogical demo to end the week. This demo is just of the basic functionality, but I want to highlight just how FAST it is. There's a WHOLE lot more functionality already present and coming but I wanted to keep the demo short. But seriously, check out that speed.
I'm showing the macOS app here and I get asked a lot so let me just say up front: its not macOS only. We're still figuring out exactly what platforms will be stable enough for the initial public release, but we're working on others. In particular, the web interface is very functional but I'll demo that another time (or someone else will).
This is also all showing off the architecture I previously talked about for terminal multiplexing which is significantly different from other mainstream multiplexers: this is all a custom binary protocol where the server is maintaining N replica distributed terminal state machines. It works!
Tons of hard work going into this by the team @almonk @dizzyup @pearkes. Hope we can bring you something you can use soon. ❤️ Happy to answer questions in the replies.
