The provocative political media figure whose tour has drawn major antifascist protests across Spain Vito Quiles had planned to speak near the University of Deusto.
Around 2,500 protesters converged on the area, while the university shut its campus as a precaution.
After Vito canceled, masked protesters burned containers, at least half a dozen cars and a police motorcycle, and threw stones and fireworks at officers.
At least 14 people were arrested.
