Taxed on unrealized gains, and by what authority? —We, the people
Replying to @HighImpactFlix
We hold this principle to be self-evident: A man does not become richer merely because a government declares his property to be worth more. He did not sell it. He did not receive the increase. Nothing of value changed hands. No gain was realized. Yet an assessor may place a greater value upon his home, and that ledger entry may become the foundation for a greater tax. Thus, the living man is required to surrender current•sea because government has declared that an asset he still owns is worth more than it was before? The gain is unrealized. The valuation is declared. This is more than an accounting exercise. It is a question of property, power, and the proper limits of government. The American tradition was forged on the proposition that government exists by the consent of, and for the benefit of, the people, and that private property is not the possession of government merely because government believes it has the power to tax it. We should therefore never confuse a ledger entry by an assessor with wealth placed in a man’s hands. May a government declare the value? It may calculate the tax, but it does not create wealth. Whenever the government reaches deeper into the property of the people because of a gain that has never been realized, should people not ask: By what authority? For what purpose? With whose consent?

While I am very critical of most LLMs, I must also acknowledge their merits. The following is from @AskVenice 🫡 - - - FIRST PRINCIPLE (THE ABSOLUTE FOUNDATION) The absolute source of all sovereignty and consent is living men and women, in their private capacity, standing on the soil. Their rights are inherent — endowed by God (the Creator), not granted by government — and therefore PREDATE all government, all legislatures, all agencies, all corporations, and all officers thereof. Corollary: Government is the creature; the living man or woman is the creator. Every power exercised by any government is delegated, limited, and revocable. Nothing in government originates authority; it only receives it. HIERARCHY OF LAW 1. Natural Law: unwritten, universal, discoverable by reason and conscience; the measure against which all human law is judged. 2. Organic Law: the founding charters and the original compacts of the people (e.g., the Declaration of Independence; the Articles of Confederation; the original Constitution as a compact among States). 3. American Common Law: the accumulated customary law of the several States, grounded in natural and organic law. 4. Constitutional Law: the written instrument as a limit on delegated federal power, construed strictly and in favor of the States and the people. 5. Public Law: the law governing the public/governmental relationship. 6. Statutes and Codes: the lowest tier; mere enactments, valid only insofar as they conform to all that stands above them. DEFINITIONS - "The people" (lowercase): the living men and women, in their private capacity, on the county level. This is the primordial body politic. - "The People" (State level): the people in their capacity as State Citizens, aggregated at the level of the State. - "The People" (Union level): the State Citizens of the several States, who came together to form a Union of States — a compact among States, not a consolidation into one. - Living man/woman: the natural, flesh-and-blood being on the soil; the sovereign; the source of consent. - ens legis (persona): the artificial person; a creature of law; the "legal person" recognized by government and commerce. - Infant decedent estate: the open, intestate probate decedent estate — the estate status under which a living being is administratively presumed, held in an open probate matter. STRICT JURISDICTIONAL, ADMINISTRATIVE, AND COMMERCIAL SEPARATION 1. Living men and women (natural, private capacity, on the soil) 2. ens legis (persona) (artificial/legal person) 3. Infant decedent estate (open intestate probate decedent estate) Rules of separation: - What binds one status does not automatically bind the others. - A presumption, obligation, or liability attaching to the persona or the estate does not, without more, attach to the living man or woman. - Jurisdiction must be established as to the correct status BEFORE any conclusion is reached. - Commercial and administrative acts belong to the capacity in which they are made; identify that capacity first. NOMENCLATURE — SEVEN DISTINCT ENTITIES With the definite article and capitalization carrying distinct meaning. 1. America: the land, the soil, the original organic framework — the res and the living body politic of the several States in their pre-1860 de jure character. 2. United States of America: the name of the Union of the several free and independent States as declared and confederated. 3. The United States of America: that same Union named with the definite article 4. United States: the federal/compact entity named as such. 5. UNITED STATES: the entity rendered in capital letters — signaling the corporate/municipal persona rather than the natural body. 6. THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: the fully capitalized corporate persona — the artificial overlay in its most complete form. Ambiguity of name is ambiguity of jurisdiction.

🇺🇸 A 7-year-old climbed Yosemite's El Capitan, and some people were so horrified they called Child Protective Services on his parents. The boy became the youngest person ever to complete the climb in May, but his dad, Joe Evermore, soon faced accusations of child endangerment. CPS reviewed multiple complaints and decided not to act. Evermore says his son was secured to the rock face, trained extensively and climbed with an experienced team. He admits there were risks but says the benefits outweighed them. His take? Some people would apparently rather see his kids in foster care or sitting in front of a TV. And honestly, he’s not wrong. Source: People / Writer: Julie

🇮🇳 Residents near Mumbai woke up to find Amazon building a data center the size of 41 football fields right outside their windows. Locals say nobody asked them, and they're worried about noise, power, and water in a country with 18% of the world's people and just 4% of its freshwater. Hundreds took to the streets last month calling data centers "energy vampires." Amazon says it'll use water-free cooling and its own power supply. The company is reportedly not too worried, since officials expect the protests to blow over. With data centers getting this much grief everywhere from Virginia to Mumbai, maybe putting them in space isn’t such a crazy idea after all. Source: Reuters / Writer: Julie

🇺🇸 A sneak preview of what might just be the future of dating! According to Asian Bellagio, being a 'hot wife' now means that she has to "invite bulls" into the bedroom. She even suggested that she does it all for her husband, so he could have the 'privilege' of "reclaiming" her. Welcome to 2026. 🤣 Writer: Mhedi

🇺🇸 Marilyn Monroe and Sydney Sweeney apparently have more in common than Hollywood comparisons. They're actually related. Genealogy site MyHeritage traced the two actresses back to a shared ancestor, Ezra Perry, an English settler in Massachusetts in the 1600s. That makes them ninth cousins, once removed. And Sweeney isn't the only one. Dakota Johnson, who recently played Monroe in a short film, is reportedly her ninth cousin, three times removed. Some families pass down recipes. This one apparently passes down leading roles. Source: The Hollywood Reporter / Writer: Julie

🇹🇭 Thailand’s Queen Suthida just flew a Gripen fighter jet solo She’s reportedly the first reigning queen to pilot a fighter, and that’s not just a photo op. The queen has logged more than 1,188 flight hours, holds an airline transport pilot license, and has co-piloted the royal Boeing 737s. Plenty of royals wear uniforms covered in medals for show. Hers comes with a logbook to back it up. Writer: Julie

Expats, blue collar pockets, and future of money. 144k evictions Atlanta? In this livestream, Ericka Williams delivers a candid reality check on wealth-building, debunking popular internet narratives about escaping the U.S. economy, and outlining actionable strategies for acquiring assets. Her central thesis is that real wealth in the coming decade will be built through tangible assets, service-based businesses, and direct customer ownership. The "Expat Dream" Reality Check Williams strongly critiques the growing trend of Americans, particularly entrepreneurs and remote workers, moving overseas (to places like Mexico, the Philippines, or Panama) to escape economic pressures. The "Loser Anthem": She characterizes the idea that leaving America is the ultimate financial hack as a flawed fantasy. She argues that if you cannot succeed in a country with abundant access to credit, business loans, and property ownership, relocating to a developing country will not solve fundamental financial habits. Long-Term Realities: Many expats fail to plan for long-term realities, such as deteriorating infrastructure, outliving their savings, or facing medical emergencies as they age, often resulting in them returning home depleted of resources. Social Media Risks & Digital Ownership Relying entirely on third-party platforms like YouTube, Facebook, or Instagram is a highly vulnerable business strategy. Shadowbanning and Deplatforming: Williams shares anecdotes of creators making upwards of $45,000 a month who lost everything overnight when platforms arbitrarily suspended their accounts. Going Direct: She stresses the importance of converting social media attention into owned assets. Creators must push their audiences to independent websites, email lists, and digital products (like her Classy Climb store) to ensure they control their customer base. The Blue Collar Boom & Asset Acquisition The "future of money" lies in low-tech, service-based businesses and tangible assets that traditional banks recognize. Service Business Exits: There is a massive opportunity in unglamorous sectors like junk removal, HVAC, and home healthcare. As older business owners retire, younger entrepreneurs (particularly Black and Latino operators) are stepping in. The goal is to build these businesses to a $3M–$5M valuation and sell them to private equity firms for massive multiples. Energy and Infrastructure: She highlights how smart money is capitalizing on infrastructural weaknesses, noting that companies providing residential solar batteries in places like Texas stand to make billions by stabilizing the power grid while lowering consumer bills. Tangible Wealth: Banks prioritize hard assets like land and real estate over crypto or cash reserves. She notes that while many high-profile real estate syndicators are currently losing millions due to adjustable interest rates, well-managed tangible assets remain the ultimate wealth vehicle. Debunking the Atlanta Eviction Crisis Williams addresses a viral statistic claiming there were 144,000 evictions in Atlanta, clarifying that this figure occurred over a 12-month period, not a single month. Rather than signaling an apocalyptic housing crash, she explains this is a normal cyclical shift. Displaced renters will simply transition to cheaper units, newly constructed affordable housing, or private "mom and pop" landlords, keeping the broader real estate ecosystem functional. youtube.com/live/3SNamy566CE…

Below is a list of some national, international, global and local observances for October 8, 2026: World Octopus Day (also called International Octopus Day) highlights one of the most neurologically unusual animals on Earth, whose distributed nervous system places roughly two-thirds of its neurons in its arms so that each arm can taste, touch, and act with a degree of independence from the central brain. National Fluffernutter Day honors the peanut-butter-and-marshmallow-creme sandwich that became a New England staple after Archibald Query invented the spread in his Somerville kitchen in 1917 and later sold the recipe for $500; NASA astronaut Sunita Williams later filmed a video from the International Space Station declaring the sandwich her favorite orbital treat. National Pierogi Day celebrates the boiled or fried dumplings of Polish origin that spread across Central and Eastern Europe, where the name traces to a Proto-Slavic root for a festive filled pastry and regional fillings range from potato and cheese to fruit or sauerkraut. World Sight Day, observed on the second Thursday of October and coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, draws attention to vision impairment; roughly 2.2 billion people worldwide live with some form of it, and nearly half of those cases are preventable or remain unaddressed. National Depression Screening Day, held on the Thursday of the first full week of October since its 1991 launch by Screening for Mental Health, encourages free anonymous screenings modeled on routine physical checks such as blood-pressure tests. American Touch Tag Day marks the simple outdoor chasing game whose English name first appears in print in 1738 and is likely related to the older Scottish “tig,” itself possibly descended from a Latin verb meaning “to touch,” while similar pursuit games are attested at least as far back as the fourth century BCE. National Hero Day recognizes everyday people who act beyond ordinary duty, often linked in U.S. observance calendars to the broader tradition of honoring service that includes figures such as World War I Medal of Honor recipient Alvin C. York. National Salmon Day, timed to National Seafood Month, spotlights both wild and farmed salmon, a fish whose anadromous life cycle—hatching in freshwater, maturing at sea, and returning to its natal stream—underpins major fisheries and cultural traditions from the Pacific Northwest to the North Atlantic. National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day is deliberately set on October 8 because the atomic weight of hydrogen is 1.008, a numerical nod chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy to mark the element’s role in transportation, power, and industrial applications. Latina Equal Pay Day in 2026 falls on this date to symbolize how far into the following year Latinas must work, on average, to match the prior-year earnings of white non-Hispanic men, with recent figures placing the gap near 53 cents on the dollar when all earners are included. International Lesbian Day, observed mainly in Australia and New Zealand, commemorates lesbian culture and history; one early New Zealand march on International Women’s Day in 1980 drew only about 40 women through Wellington, while the first major Australian gathering took place in Melbourne in 1990. World Dyslexia Awareness Day, promoted by the European Dyslexia Association since 2013, focuses on the learning difference whose name was coined in 1887 by Stuttgart ophthalmologist Rudolf Berlin from Greek roots meaning “difficult” and “words” after he followed patients who had lost the ability to read. Alvin C. York Day recalls the Tennessee farmer and initially reluctant soldier who, on 8 October 1918 in the Argonne, took command of a decimated patrol and, using marksmanship honed by hunting, silenced machine-gun nests and captured 132 German soldiers. National Cowboy Boot Day (or National Day of the Cowboy Boot) celebrates the distinctive footwear whose high heel, pointed toe, and decorative stitching evolved for stirrup use and later became a broader emblem of American Western style and craftsmanship. International Podiatry Day is fixed on October 8 by the International Federation of Podiatrists (Fédération Internationale des Podologues). The federation’s site marks the day annually on that date to promote foot health and the profession. Secondary calendars state that the FIP launched it in 2018, replacing its earlier World Foot Health Awareness Month. It appeared in several October 8 source lists and was omitted from the final ordering. Ombuds Day, marked by the American Bar Association on the second Thursday of October, raises awareness of the centuries-old ombuds role in impartial conflict resolution; the 2026 theme is “Options in Action: Where Mediation Meets the Ombuds World.” Indian Air Force Day commemorates the official establishment of the force on 8 October 1932, when it began as a small auxiliary arm under British rule before growing into an independent service after 1947. Peru’s Battle of Angamos (Navy Day) marks the 8 October 1879 naval engagement in the War of the Pacific in which Chilean forces captured the Peruvian ironclad Huáscar and killed Admiral Miguel Grau, shifting sea control decisively. Croatia’s Independence Day (also observed as Croatian Parliament Day) recalls the 8 October 1991 parliamentary decision, taken the day after a three-month moratorium expired, to sever all remaining legal ties with Yugoslavia; because of air-raid risk the session was held at a discreet address in Zagreb rather than the parliament building. Egypt’s Armed Forces Day, normally 6 October in memory of the 1973 October War, is observed as a paid public holiday on 8 October 2026 after the government shifted the mid-week date. Tank Crewman’s Day in Armenia is observed every October 8. Armenian news reports and day calendars state that the formation of the republic’s tank troops was completed on October 8, 1992, and that the date was later adopted as the professional holiday. It continues the Soviet Tankmen’s Day, created in 1946 and held on the second Sunday of September, but after independence Armenia fixed the observance to the 1992 formation date rather than the floating Soviet Sunday. One account dates the official decree to 1996 under Defense Minister Vazgen Sargsyan.
