Our world is not ending. Theirs IS. Someone out in the driveway loading boxes into the back of a car like the world was ending in the next ten minutes. You could see the tension in the way they moved. That one stuck with me. I kept driving and the thought settled in. What if the difference between those houses is not that one family knows something the others do not, but that one family is still letting the fear run the show while the others already made the shift? What if the sudden messages telling everyone to prepare for power outages and disruptions are not a signal that our world is about to collapse, but the sound of their arrangements finally starting to break? The same people who spent years telling us everything was under control are now the ones hardening their own positions. That is not confidence. That is the recognition that the cover they relied on is about to come off. What if the scramble we are watching right now is the same thing on a larger scale?
