I don’t track every “lock” posted - just the ones that hit my feed before game time or picks I’m tagged in. As the sample sizes grow, the numbers should give a much clearer picture of who’s actually consistent at picking winners.

September 11, 2001: 9:29 AM -- President Bush makes his first public statements about the attacks, in front of an audience of about 200 teachers and students at the elementary school. He states that he will be going back to Washington. "Today, we've had a national tragedy," he starts. "Two airplanes… have crashed… into the World Trade Center… in an apparent terrorist attack on our country," and leads a moment of silence.

George W. Bush: “Our nation occasionally goes through isolationist periods where the attitude is, ‘We’ve got too many problems at home, therefore who cares what happens overseas.’
Which really means to me they don’t pay attention to the lesson of 9/11.
What happens overseas matters to our national security at home.”

🇺🇸 September 14, 2001. Ground Zero.
President Bush climbed onto a wrecked fire truck with a retired FDNY man named Bob Beckwith and a bullhorn.
A worker in the pile yelled that he could not hear him.
Bush: “I can hear you! I can hear you! The rest of the world hears you! And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!”

The White House’s swimming pool, photographed in 1938.
The White House indoor swimming pool was built in 1933 during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency, largely to help him exercise and manage the effects of polio. Roosevelt frequently used the pool for swimming and physical therapy, and it became a popular feature for later presidents and their families. The pool was eventually covered over in 1970 to create space for a press briefing room, but the original pool remains underneath the floor.

On this day in 1946, the Convair B-36 Peacemaker makes its maiden flight. History's first purpose-built nuclear bomber, the six-engine plane is the largest piston-engine aircraft to ever take to the skies. Its payload is four times that of the B-29 Superfortress.
(Here's some footage taken later of a B-36 flying solo and then joined by different models of American WW2 bombers for a size comparison)

Today in 1944, the largest naval convoy of the Second World War, codenamed HX 300, reaches British waters. Its 166 cargo ships and 35 escorts carry everything from tanks and fuel oil to lumber and rum. Despite its immense size, improved Allied anti-submarine tactics ensure not a single vessel is lost to German U-boats.

🎥 Flying into danger: Operation Tidal Wave
To strike at the heart of Germany's fuel supply, American aircrews flew just hundreds of feet above the ground during Operation Tidal Wave in August 1943.
The mission came at a tremendous cost, but their bravery remains an enduring example of service and sacrifice.
May their courage, commitment, and sacrifice never be forgotten.
