Wonderful work.
Excited that our deep dive into the function of 13,403 KCNQ1 variants is now published in @CircAHA! We used 4 multiplexed assays of variant effect (MAVEs) to connect variant effects to ion channel mechanisms and long QT syndrome risk. 🧵

I have a very good relationship with Giorgia Meloni, and I respect her greatly. I am grateful to the people of Italy and everyone who supports Ukraine. But our gratitude is not just words. We are already sharing our experience. They receive feedback from us on which Italian-made and European-made weapons work and which do not, and what we have improved technologically. We share all of this with Italian manufacturers.
We have established joint production facilities in Italy and Ukraine – these are Ukrainian-Italian companies. We have a very good relationship with Leonardo. We are grateful to them. And they receive a lot from us. I am very glad that we support each other in this way and that the Italians’ level of technological expertise is increasing. Italians work at the enterprises and factories opening in Italy. I think this is also very important. It means not only jobs but also assistance for Ukraine and Italy.

Italy stands in full solidarity with Germany after the Russian hybrid attack in Leipzig.
The security of our Allies is the security of us all. Attempts to intimidate us or to drive a wedge between Allies will not succeed: hybrid actions against any one of us are a matter of concern for all of us, and will be met with a united response.
At times like this, it is essential to remain steadfast, to keep working closely together, and to maintain a credible posture of deterrence in defence of our citizens’ security.
Very interesting reading
In today’s edition of @ScienceMagazine, @michaelgreshko expertly highlights the potential of in-space biomanufacturing. 🚀
Some (entertaining!) quotes from our team at @CedarsSinai and from friends and colleagues working in this rapidly growing field.

20 years ago today: a paper was published that changed biology forever.
The discovery? Just 4 factors could turn skin cells into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). They can turn into nearly any cell type, such as these beating heart cells.
Cheers iPSCs. How far we’ve come!

Only a few days to go until the 50th Meeting of the EWGCCE!
Very much looking forward to scientific sessions and looking ahead to the next 50 years will take us, as well as catching up with friends and colleagues!
Safe travels to all, and see you soon!
Very happy for our latest study, published in Cardiovascular Research.
Integrating hiPSC-derived cardiomyocyte electrophysiological profiling with machine learning provides granular variant-specific risk stratification of long QT syndrome patients

OK this is cool. The first time humans have seen the whole Mare Orientale on the far side of the Moon with their own eyes. Usually hidden from our view on Earth, even Apollo astronauts didn't see it completely because of their orbit and illumination conditions (Apollo 17 caught a partial glimpse lit by 'Earthshine'). See flic.kr/p/2s5HA2X
History in the making
In this new image from our @NASAArtemis II crew, you can see Orientale basin on the right edge of the lunar disk. This mission marks the first time the entire basin has been seen with human eyes.
Liftoff.
The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon.
Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap — astronauts on Mars.
This edition will be very special as this year marks the 50th (!) EWGCCE.
Abstract submission deadline is March 2nd!

ALT At night, a large neoclassical triumphal arch is illuminated in blue light against a black sky. A projection of glowing yellow stars forms a circular pattern across the front of the arch. Sculptures are visible on top of the structure, and a crowd of people stands below, many holding up phones to photograph the light display.

Ci sono due modi per dirigere il Dies Irae dal Requiem di Verdi, secondo Riccardo Muti.
1) Il direttore comodo, con la panza davanti, tutto l'impegno lo fate voi e i soldi li prendo io
2) All'italiana, pronti, via!

Ci serve urgentemente un piano per l’indipendenza software.
Con un piano fatto come si deve 5 anni potrebbero bastare, ma ci vuole coraggio, soldi (tantissimi) e gente al comando che sia fuori dalla politica.
