âś… Local Green groups were given an opportunity to denounce the disgraceful "Zionism is Racism" policy and call on their leadership to do the same.
âś… Several did, and those local arrangements remain in place.
❌ It's disappointing more Green groups didn't feel they could do the same - we continue to call on the Green Party to drop this appalling policy.
âś… Today's action addresses support for this unacceptable policy - which clearly crosses a line. Local power sharing arrangements cannot come at the expense of upholding the moral obligation we have to stand up for everyone in our communities and the values we share.
❌ Today's action was not about whether people can or cannot criticise the actions of the Israeli Government - as the Labour Party repeatedly has.
❌ Any suggestion that today's action was about anything other than the "Zionism is Racism" policy is plain misinformation.
âś… Labour councillors will continue working hard day in, day out for their local communities. That's what we do.

Irony that if Rachel Reeves hadn’t done unglamorous work of restoring fiscal headroom + a disinflationary budget last year, this government would have had to introduce itself to the country with monstrous tax-rising budget. Many of her Labour critics now most indebted to her!

As of today (Monday 19 October), the Canary will be closed indefinitely.
After multiple attacks this year, from Lloyds debanking us to former employees spreading malicious lies on social media, the situation has become unsustainable, both financially and operationally.
After 11 years, we take this action with deep sadness and regret. The extent of the lies, defamation, and harassment by ex-staff - coupled with the constant attacks by the state and those who’d see us destroyed - has become too much.
However, it is not over. This week, we will publish what really happened at the Canary and push back against the vicious campaign against our team and us.
We may be down, but we’re not out yet.

Absolutely horrible news, and a terrifying rise in violence against politicians that has now made its way to Aus.
Coming over here from the UK I was always more overly security conscious than my colleagues, it’s sad they will now have the same mindset.
