"Make no mistake, a vote for Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE's candidate for UN secretary general, is an endorsement of genocide, mass atrocities and war." She is best known for covering up UAE complicity in those atrocities by the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. trib.al/lCkKugk

Threats against @Ccajar & @Movicecol members in Sucre must be investigated promptly and by a specialised unit of the @FiscaliaCol! #HumanRights organisations must never be threatened for their work. Defending human rights must not be a mortal risk. Urgent action NOW #Colombia

The day the police will no longer raise their batons against people standing for human rights and against war-mongering and genocide, will be a beautiful day. The day the police will walk WITH the anti-apartheid and anti-war movement, it will be the beginning of a new era.
Thousands have protested across Italy against rising living costs and increased military spending, demanding greater investment in healthcare and education. Demonstrations spread to 50 cities, with clashes reported between protesters and police.

One year since El Fasher fell to the RSF, the international community has failed to take the necessary actions to address the desperate plight civilians face as the conflict rages. There has been little accountability for abuses in North Darfur. Read more 👇 amn.st/6019BHgUfh

In 2019, @CAgovernor said: “My ultimate goal is to end the death penalty in California." We urge him to move the state in that direction by commuting death sentences in California. Human rights must always come before politics. #CommuteTheRow nytimes.com/2026/10/07/us/ne…

Just another lie that #Israel continues to perpetuate against overwhelming evidence to the contrary. * STILL NO CEASEFIRE * STILL COMMITTING APATHEID IN THE OPT * STILL COMMITTING GENOCIDE IN GAZA * STILL COMMITTING ETHNIC CLEANSING IN THE WEST BANK Shameful!
One year after the Gaza ceasefire agreement was reached, more than 100 humanitarian, human rights, and other civil society organisations say the ceasefire exists in name only, with Israeli forces continuing to kill and injure Palestinians daily, and restrictions on aid, equipment and rebuilding materials preventing families from recovering. amn.st/6016BGAugY

One year since the ceasefire agreement, more than 1,400 people have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, nearly two million still need shelter, not a single hospital is fully functioning, and 1.4 million face crisis-level hunger. Accountability cannot be swept under the rubble. The recovery and future of Gaza cannot be separated from a framework grounded in international law, justice, and the rights of victims. The persistent failure to hold Israel accountable and press Israel to comply with the International Court of Justice’s binding orders continues to fuel the atrocity crimes on a mass scale against Palestinians.

1/ This World Day Against the Death Penalty, we recognise the progress towards abolition across Southeast Asia. Malaysia’s recent legal reforms have reduced the number of people under sentence of death from more than 1,200 to around 100 by the end of 2025.

Christa Pike Discharged From Hospital After Surviving Execution Attempt Governor Lee must grant both Ms. Pike and all those on death row clemency and commute their sentences. He must also establish an indefinite moratorium on all executions, not just for a few months. The harrowing botched execution must spark a new determination to work to move the state of Tennessee to abolish the death penalty once and for all.   nytimes.com/2026/10/10/us/po… via @NYTimes

Tennessee earlier this year had another failed execution attempt (Tony Carruthers). Gov Bill Lee has just announced independent review into Christa Pike’s attempted execution. He has put on hold the other execution set for 3 Dec this year. #DeathPenalty is torture! Stop it use!
State of Tennessee endeavoured to carry out #deathpenalty on a woman who committed a murder over 3 decades ago. She was still alive after 2 lethal elections & was taken to hospital. Death penalty is grotesque & inhumane. Last execution in #NZ was in 1957. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…

Tennessee’s botched attempt to execute Christa Pike, as witnessed by her attorneys, demonstrates why the death penalty truly is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment. All execution methods are inhumane and unacceptable. The death penalty must be abolished, everywhere. apnews.com/article/christa-p…
