It’s been a whole year since we lost Billy. I flew back to Texas this weekend to be with his family again, and somehow, what could have been an incredibly sad weekend ended up being filled with so many happy memories. On Friday night, we watched Billy’s favorite baseball team, the Rangers, win while we ate ice cream and danced on the Jumbotron. On Saturday, his son’s baseball team won their game while wearing hats honoring their old team name from when Billy used to coach them. That night, the whole family got together to play Mario Kart and Among Us, eat massive cookies, and laugh until way too late. And today, I took his son to Billy’s old gym, where he wanted to use the same machines his dad used to get swole on. (His idea, by the way 😭) It doesn’t hurt any less that Billy is gone than it did a year ago. But this weekend gave all of us new, happy memories that we’ll be able to look back on and cherish. Having the opportunity to come together on what would otherwise be such a painful anniversary, and instead laugh, eat, play games, and love each other is exactly what Billy would have wanted for all of us. Thank you to every one of Billy’s friends, fans, and everyone else who continues to carry his memory with them. Every post, story, message, and bit of love that keeps his memory alive means more than you know. We miss you, Billy. ❤️
