MSC president Jim Welty:
“Pennsylvania’s natural gas operators have long operated under some of the nation’s strictest leak detection and repair requirements. Combined with continued investments in advanced technologies and operational improvements, these efforts have helped achieve among the lowest methane emissions intensities in the world.”

On an annual basis, @EIAgov said 🇺🇸 natural gas production was on track to rise from a record 107.6 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in 2025 to 112.2 bcfd in 2026 and 116.1 bcfd in 2027.

“America has the natural resources, innovative spirit, and private sector might to be the world’s number one energy powerhouse. The only thing standing in our way is outdated red tape,” said @USDOT Secretary Sean Duffy.

#NaturalGas cannot not power homes if they cannot reach them.
From Appalachia to New England, pipeline constraints come at a cost. MSC is helping build momentum for bipartisan reforms to get American energy moving.

BAAJA could reduce natural gas costs in regions where pipeline constraints prevent relatively inexpensive domestic supplies from reaching consumers. This is particularly relevant in the Northeast, where limited pipeline capacity can drive sharp winter price spikes and increase reliance on imported fuels.

The program, sponsored by @UGI_Utilities and the National Energy Foundation, taught students about natural gas production, including gas found in the Marcellus Shale.

5.2 billion cubic feet of gas moved through the state’s pipes on a mild October Saturday.
None of it was produced here. It all arrived on eight interstate pipelines: Algonquin, Iroquois, Millennium, Tennessee, Transco, Eastern Gas, National Fuel and Empire.
Most of it kept going. 2.5 Bcf, or 48%, passed through to Connecticut and New England on Algonquin and Iroquois, and to Canada at Niagara on Tennessee, National Fuel and Empire.
Another 2.1 Bcf went to the utilities. About 1.7 of that heated homes and businesses. The rest ran power plants behind the utility gates, nearly all of them in the city and on Long Island.
Gas plants made 44% of New York’s electricity that day. They needed about 18% of the gas that moved through the state to do it. The biggest draws at their own pipeline taps were Independence in Oswego, Athens, Cricket Valley, Empire Generating in Schodack and Northport. CPV Valley in Orange County, one of the three largest gas generators in the state last year, did not nominate gas at all.
Nobody stores natural gas at a power plant. A gas plant burns what the pipe delivers that hour. What the plants keep on site is oil, for the cold days when the gates at Mahwah and Brookfield are already full.
This was a mild Saturday in October. The same map in January will look very different.
Bradford County, Pennsylvania and its municipalities are set to share more than $10.8 million in natural-gas impact-fee revenue generated during the 2024 production year, money that local officials say has funded new public buildings and infrastructure even as neighboring New York maintains a ban on high-volume hydraulic fracturing now in its second decade.

Pennsylvania has the natural gas resources to meet growing demand, but delivering that energy remains a challenge. “The gap between what Pennsylvania can produce and what it can reliably deliver has nothing to do with technical feasibility.”

"The Northeast continues to face significant natural gas supply constraints that drive up energy costs for families and businesses. The Constitution pipeline is designed to help address those challenges by delivering reliable, affordable energy to the region while supporting economic growth and emissions reductions."

"Having a source of reliable, cheaper energy, would undoubtedly be a major benefit to New York and the region. It's unfortunate that New York leaders are dragging their feet on it. New York needs more energy badly."

A major coalition is lining up behind permitting reform. API joined 137 organizations in urging Congress to pass the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act this year.
We’re proud to join this important advocacy effort.
"America cannot meet rising demand, strengthen domestic manufacturing, or maintain affordability of energy and other essential products if it cannot build the infrastructure those goals require," the organizations wrote.

“There is widespread recognition that permitting system created to protect the environment 50+ years ago has morphed into system that is bad for the economy and environment,” @BPC_Bipartisan noted. “Reviews once completed in weeks now take years or decades.”
