Like nearly everyone else, I now have a Substack 📝
My first piece is a deep dive into a mix data to explore why, despite the 'Burnham Bounce', the Greens may still pose a serious threat to Labour in London.

BREAKING: Trump may have accidentally chosen the wrong Dana White for his White House Press Secretary offer.
There is a woman named "Dana White" who is the former Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, more commonly known as the Pentagon's chief spokesperson, from April 2017 to the end of 2018.
She briefed the press from the Pentagon podium, and served as the principal media adviser and communications lead for the Secretary of Defense. She also was a Fox News publicist and worked at the conservative Heritage Foundation. She even started her career as a press secretary for the House Republican Conference.
Someone at the White House likely recommended her to Trump and he thought they meant UFC CEO Dana White, then went ahead and announced it on Truth Social thinking it's his UFC friend, and nobody around him was willing to correct him.
Furthermore, Trump is actively searching for a new press secretary after Karoline Leavitt left and Katie Zacharia lasted five days, so names are being pitched to him right now.
Per CNN, UFC's Dana White has declined the offer, and one aide now claims Trump was "joking."
A good piece of advice for the Conservatives 👇
“If you care about good, conservative policy, you should care about having candidates that can appeal to a large enough constituency so they can win”
Texas had a Senator, John Cornyn, who voted like 98% conservative. He had a history of winning his races by large margins. But online influencers and podcasters knew better and primaried him with Paxton. And now not only will Republicans lose a Senate seat, they may lose the governorship. Absolutely foolish. If you care about good, conservative policy, you should care about having candidates that can appeal to a large enough constituency so they can win.
Politics shouldn’t be this tribal. The focus should be on delivering and further the country with the ‘politics’ bit coming second.
I really can’t wait to see all the uniparty MP’s lose their seats at the General Election.
Those sports halls are going to be full of Reformers opening bottles of champagne.

No wonder young Brits can’t afford a home.
In Colchester, the council wants to demolish this derelict building for 340 new units.
People are opposing it and want the graffiti-laden building to stay.
They think it should be preserved.
It’s an eyesore. It has to go.
Some people can’t handle any change and would prefer a rotting building.
The shops that are there would stay, and 300 people will get an opportunity to build a life there.
Our planning system is tilted towards the complainers, and against you.
It does not have to be this way.
We need a radical overhaul of this system.
What do you think?
Putting aside the unfortunate state of Poundland, this is a tweet that a left-wing politician could have put out. Argues against the benefits of the free-markets he previously championed and for state intervention into businesses.

"We have a tax system that is a mess. It is far more complex than it should be.
That is because, Budget after Budget, chancellors make seemingly small tweaks that lack principle and don’t systematically move us to a better place."

The ‘enshittification’ of our politics continues.
The crimes are appalling but should they be used as a campaigning tactic by a party? No.

Mindblowing chart from OBR. In 2029 real household disposable income per person expected to be just 1% higher than in 2019. What an unbelievably awful decade. It used to grow by 2%+ every year, not 1% in 10 years.
A winter election is fraught with risk for Labour. The NHS and A&E is likely to be in 'winter crisis', consumer confidence and optimism has recently slumped back and if goes early 2027 energy bills will likely have risen by around 25%
The downside risk is greater than the upside
Exc: The Liberal Democrats have privately started planning for a snap general election on December 10, estimating there is a 30 per cent chance that Andy Burnham goes to the polls before Christmas.
Sir Ed Davey’s party is getting on a war footing to defend its record number of 72 seats won in 2024, assessing that Labour’s “direction of travel” in the opinion polls is all “one way”.
A memo written by Lord Pack, who chairs the Lib Dems’ election committee, said the prime minister had made “a run of gambles that paid off” and was “at the peak of his authority”.
The date of December 10 has been estimated as it gives ministers one week after the budget to enact measures through legislation before dissolving parliament. “Weigh it all up, and we think there’s roughly a 30 per cent chance of a December 10 election,” Pack wrote in his assessment, seen by The Times.
Burnham has insisted the general election will not come until 2029. August of that year is the latest that one can be held.
Ministers have been buoyed by Labour’s poll ratings. YouGov puts the party in front at 27 per cent but this would still be likely to leave Burnham short of an overall majority.
Pack acknowledged that December was less likely than May 2027, but wrote: “30 per cent is big enough that we would be foolish not to prepare.” He added: “The cost of preparing and being wrong is small. The cost of being caught unprepared would be enormous. We do not intend to be the party that dithers.”
This is the perfect example of online world being very different to real world.
Jenny’s countryside, Labrador’s and ale comment, despite being everywhere online among politically engaged people, has had low cut through with wider public.
Replying to @LukeTryl
The contrast with the Burnham cut through grid is really stark, he has much more in the popular and high cut through areas - with £2 bus fare cap being the highest cut through and most popular. Like Starmer prisoner releases remain unpopular.

This is genuine insanity. Museums are meant to not only be a place of learning but also at times challenge people’s beliefs. Sanitising them to appease a small minority is a huge step backwards for wider society.

Relax jews. Owen Jones has decided there’s no antisemitism to worry about in schools. Such a relief we have had him these last years to explain why things that look like antisemitism aren’t. What a mensch
The government's antisemitism in schools report is a travesty.
It's riddled with errors, distortions and contradictions.
And it will be used to silence people over Palestine 👇

There’s actually a green case for new North Sea production:
– Domestic gas is 18% less carbon-emitting than imports from the US and the Gulf states.
– Higher tax revenue can be used to support green energy, EVs and heat pumps. arguably.uk/p/is-net-zero-st…
