Since Friday, the Fort Worth Fire Department has responded to over 1️⃣1️⃣8️⃣ fires. 🔥 These fires have ranged from: commercial, apartment, residential, to car, dumpster, trash, grass, etc. Out of the total 118 fires, 9️⃣of those were what we consider “working fires,” meaning every crew member that was on the original ticket (call) has a task that needs to be completed. Those tasks could be extinguishing the fire, performing a search and rescue, providing a water supply, cutting off major utilities (electricity, gas, water), doing salvage and overhaul (making sure we save anything valuable that we can and completely extinguishing the fire). Firefighters are also assigned to “RIT” during a working fire. RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) is a term used for a company to be assigned to stand by in case there is a MayDay called from any of our firefighters. If a Mayday is called, the RIT team’s sole focus is extracting our firefighter(s) in distress and providing emergency medical care once rescued. In the @CityofFortWorth, a one-alarm assignment includes: 4 engines, 2 trucks (tower, truck, quint) and 2 battalion chiefs. When the fire is brought under control, we also have our arson investigators on scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. Here are photos from the fires we have responded to over the past few days. Stay safe, #fortworth.
